Bumped.

Note Nick's explanation of Elwynthrop as a place name in Domesday but now extinct.

"Serlo (who narrated his tales to Hugh de kirkstall in 1207) Serlo being one of the orignal monks sent to establish the abbey under the White Hill in the manor of Barnoldswick, he stated: "Elwynthorp was removed and Salterforth has arisen since" I fully believe this to mean the original site of a group of farms and land was taken over by the monks to establish the abbey site and the ousted tenants meant that the farming community around Salterforth grew because of the influx of ousted tenants and a village nucleated around the ford.

Thanks Wendy. I'm learning as well from re-running them. And then there is the advantage that if the pic is missing I can post it.

You are aware that you don't have to repost the picture as such. Just edit the post and change the image string to the current syntax, the image number remains the same.

Yes Ian, but I want to make sure that each has the best image. There are some where there are better versions of the same image now.

You missed one, the Whitemoor map. I take it you don't have a better version of this with the comments you made when you first posted it? I have taken the liberty, edit if you wish.

Just in this thread Stanley.

I've had a look and I don't think there was ever a pic of the map with it. Not that it matters, having one there is useful.

The existing link was already there Stanley and just represented by "image" in the post. All I did was update the string with the new syntax.
