I nipped into Norwich (to check from the east) only to find 4 donkeys wearing pretend antlers on headbands, each with an elf on it's back, trudging around in a circle and peeing (the donkeys not the elves). This was obviously magik being performed to trick the unsuspecting into walking through the pee thereby unwittingly spreading the magik through the city including the nearby Marks and Spencer. I abandoned that trip but am keeping watch looking nervously through my window (westward facing).

I shame to admit it but the lights in the Town Square were very pretty on this damp murky morning.....

A card arrived in the post yesterday, unthinkingly I started to open the envelope! As soon as I saw the tinsel I grabbed a roll of foil, wrapped the offending item up tightly and put it at the back of the fridge....phew, that was a close shave. Have warned Col to be on his guard today in case another sneaks in....he refuses to wear the tinfoil hat I made for him though!

What made you put it in the fridge? ( see...now...I would never have thought of putting it there).
Because what happens now? At some point you are going to have to remove it with the long handled BBQ tongs.

My main shops have suddendly had a lot of 'pop-up' shops installed, one of them being a calendar shop (2 actually), I suspect they are trying to tell us that the time is nigh and get us ready for next year already. My chemist was giving away free samples today... I'm not falling for that one!

I got a card this morning but it was OK, a Thanksgiving card......

Apparently the Trawden gimmers have had a wall collapse in their underground tunnel leading to a hole in the roof - so they are not safe down there any more.

A similar thing happened at Gawthorpe in the early 1980s.

Was asked to do some decorating today. Lots of boxes full of red, gold, green shiny and foily things. Had to hang them, stick them, bluetack them. Quite a few things including long spikey lengths and long lengths of shiny beads had to go onto a tree, topped with a girl figure dressed in a long robe.

Apparently there is a competition happening so everything had to be co-ordinated and placed just-right.

(All looks very pretty, it's amazing what you can secure with sticky tape, bluetack and paperclips )

I take it you WERE wearing your foil hat during the handling of dangly objects? ( foil hat and kitchen tongs?)

Oh dear, oh dear, Cathy, I fear you may be lost!!

We heard a loud bang around 9-15 last night, thought it was a firework, but today in daily paper are reports of loud bangs being heard all over the country - sounds quite ominous! ! They are closer than we thought, and earlier than usual.

I'm beginning to think that working in the shed surrounded by large metal masses is protecting me even though I do not wear a hat. My string of coloured lights is still in the drawer and I have no urge to put them up.

Had a narrow escape at the Post Office today. A charity had strategically set up their outpost where both the steps and ramp to the Post Office converge...and there is no other way in or out. They were selling cakes, puddings, calendars etc...and making eye contact with each and every person accessing the building. I was polite but firm, as I scurried on my way. The woman had an ivy print dress on...and thick stockings with rolled tops that ended just below the knee..which somehow was in keeping with her pearl brooch and hair net...and the faint whiff of Napthalene Flakes that surrounded her ample figure. She was not very tall, had rosy cheeks and twinkly eyes that looked like currants pushed into a bun.
You don't think...nah...couldn't have been...could it?
Have I discovered the whereabouts of Ivy Trellis ? ( or possibly one of her sisters...Rose Trellis or Jasmine Trellis?)

Not Santa Stanley...I know a real bosom when I see one...particularly when the bulk of it is sat below the level of the elbows...very difficult to replicate that artificially...it all comes down to weights and measures and distance from original point of growth under gravitational considerations...and I don't think anyone in drag would take time to get the math right.

Meanwhile see THIS for a report on how English Heritage is climbing on the bandwagon. They need publicity to promote their gift shops.

Almost all the decorations I touched on Monday were made of brightly coloured foil, I have had no adverse effects.
I think the lady (?) outside the Post Office was Mrs Claus doing part of her 'behind the scenes' help for Santa.

That has the same ramifications as when Mrs Tiz's father tried to remove a swarm of wasps using a vacuum cleaner.

I have done the same thing with bees, Tiz. They had no business coming through my kitchen range-hood so I stood by and sucked them up with the vac every time one made it through! (seemed like a brilliant idea at the time)

Cazza...I have seen Mrs. Claus on TV, folding Santa's washing...and the lady I encountered was different. Besides, Mrs. Claus smells of freshly baked biscuits - not Moth Balls...and I am not sure I should believe anything you say because you have been "exposed".
Sitting here feeling slightly paranoid and scanning the horizon. I will let Febby deal with the mail today. Think I could really do with a long lie down with a soft pillow...
