I've spent nearly all today making 2 breast cancer comfort cushons and a drainage bag for my lovely friend who is having a double mastectomy on Friday. It was one thing I could do that was both supportive and practical. They will be in the mail in the morning.

Liz, I hope your friend has a successful operation and it's as easy on her as possible. A timely reminder for many of us how lucky we are, the biggest medical event in my life at the moment is waiting for a new pair of glasses!
I'm getting guilty about the pics for the LTP13 downloads, must screw myself down to getting them done!

That is why I am doing this sponsored Drylathon. I can't do much to help cancer sufferers these days. My science days are over and I never did achieve my ambition of being a researcher in cancer, so I shall raise money instead and give other support where I can. I am impressed with your devotion to your friend, Liz, I hope she makes a full recovery both physically and emotionally.

Thank you all for your kind comments. I have a horrible suspicion it might be her husband that needs most of the support. She is the strong one in the relationship; anyway that's what friends are for.

I mailed everything today and they assure me the parcel will arrive before she goes into hospital. You're right Stanley "there but for the grace of God ..."

The husband of a friend of mine had the answer when she had breast cancer... he did a runner! Probably indicates she was better off without him anyway. She survived and prospered so that's OK!
Good crack at the images yesterday, boring but I shall finish them today!

Images off my back and on to Ian's. Don't ever forget the work that goes on behind the scenes to keep us up to date and on line.
I'm feeling much more motivated for some reason, lengthening of the days? Or perhaps because I have finally got the eye problem fully sorted. Who knows what the next project will be.....

Well now that your eyes are sorted and you deserve a break, what about spending some time pottering about in your shed...like you used to. You always got a lot of enjoyment from it.

I deserve a gold star for tidying up our Study today. Filled a waste paper basket with notes I have scribbled hastily whilst on Ancestry....notes that completely baffle me afterward because I am a great one for putting everything on there but the person's name. A lot of head-scratching goes on at my desk, accompanied by gnashing of teeth. Memory like a sieve....

Jeremy Ford art workshop today, I haven't been able to go since September. Yesterday I was making a white linen jacket. I bought the material last summer and never got round to it. As you say Stanley lengthening days! It means I can sew longer in day light, I don't much like sewing in artificial light.

I'm impressed. I've never really got into the 'dress / jacket " making. I can never get a pattern that fits all parts of me!

Ah well Liz, after years of making my own clothes I know how to adjust the patterns. I went to a sewing club for about 10 years until the teacher became too old. Now we all meet for lunch once a month instead. The teacher was a trained tailored as well as a trained teacher, she was excellent. I made several coats and jackets with her, and a cocktail dress. She gave me a lot if skills and confidence. Mind you my attempts aren't always successful. I have gad a number of UFO s( unfinished objects)

At an Earby History Society event in the New Road Community Centre, hoping people will bring along their WW1 memorabilia. We are hoping to put on an exhibition later in the year.

In Barlick, we're having an exhibition on the first weekend in September; you are very welcome to display material at that event Wendy.

Thank you David, but we are planning to hold our event in early October, so we won't be ready for September! We have applied for Heritage Lottery Funding for our project, which includes the printing of Stephanie Carter's latest book which is about Earby during WW1, and the production of a set of display panels which can be exhibited in various locations over the 4 year period.
This morning's event went very well, with loads of people turning up including the Mayor, who brought his own WW1 research to put on display.

Keeping warm, crossing my fingers for Ian and his work on the LTP downloads and washing my bedding. No problems about drying it as there is a current of warm air up the stairs from the stove in the front room.

Going through my LTP archive for the list of institutions that I alerted originally about the project. Including the AIA!

Bob stayed in hospital overnight because the list over ran. I spoke to him last night as it was too late to visit him. I am collecting him this morning. It was all a little confusing as to whether the hospital should have phoned me. We were given conflicting information as usual. I love the NHS but their admin and administrators seem very inefficient. I was getting very worried by 7.00pm when I eventually phoned the hospital to see what was happening as I was expecting a phone call telling me to pick him up.

I really could gave done with a drink to calm me down!
