The weather wasn't too bad today so I sawed up the tree branch (and other bits) that I chopped down a few weeks ago. Packed the green-waste bin and the removal guys came shortly after so I only 2 more loads to get rid of. Worked out well. I'll feel it tomorrow tho.

Visited son in his new house. Took him a bag full of treats for his freezer...gourmet sausages/steak/rissoles and other meats that he can cook on his BBQ. Most contained Garlic and half way through the journey there I had to push the bag through on to the back seat, because the smell of the Garlic was not at all pleasant. ( what a pong!)
His eyes lit up when he saw the present. I expect he will have a BBQ tonight!
The dog was happy to see us too. She got a present as well...a pig's ear.

It'll come when it's good and ready Sue. Lovely to see new babies coming into the world. Probably the most positive thing there is these days.....

As we know 5 days is neither here nor there when it comes to birth but I'm thinking that maybe baby will come out with papery skin or maybe baby wants a bit more cooking. :laugh5: Good Luck to all.

Absolutely 5 days is nothing except when you are a mother ( or grandma) in waiting.

The ponies have been looking a bit of a mess recently, not only are they very muddy but they are losing their winter coats. This morning I decided to give them a bit of a brush before they went out. Anyone got a sofa to re-stuff?
Dennis is 31 this year, he's beginning to show his age a bit now.

Oh aren't they ADORABLE?

(I swear my son's dog can shed that much hair in a day. I could have knitted a batch of matching puppies with what I used to sweep up. Bet they felt very liberated after the brush. Give the hair to Colin to make daub.)

They enjoy a good comb out don't they. They both look good for their age, a credit to you. Today I shall be replacing the frayed cord on the clothes dryer in the kitchen.

Daub is exactly what they are covered in when I bring them in Maz...a well rubbed in coating of mud, hair and sheep droppings!
How is your daughter coping now Liz? Did the wildfires do any lasting damage to her stables & grazing?

She was very lucky Wendy and the fire went around her property on 3 sides thanks to a late change in wind direction. Business is back on track.

She has learned a lot from the whole ordeal. She is now reviewing and updating her fire plan. She knows now that whilst it seemed a good idea to double up the horses in each stall to keep as many safe as possible, that in fact even the quiet horses were quite stressed at being stabled double bunked for a few days whilst they could smell the smoke outside. You would appreciate this.

The man who lit the fires has been arrested and charged. If he doesn't go to prison he will have to report to police on every fire danger day in the future. Bush fires are a fact of life in this country; it's bad enough when they start themselves but it is sickening to think people light them for fun.

Cathy, I don't mind trying to influence the weather but I draw the line at babies! I remember a friend of mine having to take his very expectant wife over the moor on a tractor to the nearest road and she swore that it was the bumping about that started her!
