These two pals enjoy a game with a ball on a Scottish beach. Lucy jumps with joy at winning the ball, Charlie pretends to be not bothered.[attachment=0]DSC_0091.JPG[

This is what happens when you stay up late to watch a film, the dogs take your side of the bed.

Jack has decided that on the whole he'd rather sleep with me in bed than stay on the sofa in the front room. I suspect that when it gets to stove time and the room is warmer he may revert to the sofa.....

Nowadays, we keep our bedroom door firmly closed against the Cooking Fats (we tend to get a better sleep without two or three lumps of feline fur either side of our feet). But I do have a picture from last winter when I was laid up with pussies in bed with me.

The mistake we made with these two, was to put their beds in the bedroom. After a few months they started to sneak on to the bed once its occupants were asleep. Then my better half started retiring early to watch shopping programmes, and they joined her for company, the rest is history.

Lucy dressed as a cat yesterday evening (in our house, with seven of them, it's catching). Ouch! (Pardon the pun, Stanley.)

Several of our moggies eyed her suspiciously, with a couple alarmed enough to hightail it out of the room. They were all mightily disturbed.

Surprising what a couple of false ears and drawn on whiskers can do.

Due to present wet conditions the dogs sit on the end of the couch and watch for Squirrel intruders. Yesterday their patience was rewarded, and they were let out to chase the varmint off. As usual they didn't want to come back in so I left the back door open. When my better half came back from the shops I got it in the ear for allowing them to go in and out in the wet, the back passage is fitted with a 8 ft mat designed to clean off doggie paws. The lambasting was taken in good grace as usual, though I felt a little miffed later when I noted two open wet umbellas standing in the back passage, dripping onto the mat.

Jack and I met Doc this morning on Gisburn Road and Jack did nothing but bark at him till he suddenly recognised his best mate. Just shows how bad their eyesight is, it wasn't till he got his scent that he changed mode. Doc is well and making progress on the house.....

We popped out into the back street just before 04:00 this morning and Jack froze immediately. It took me a moment to realise what he was picking up, a large skein of geese flying over at high altitude and chattering away to each other. Jack doesn't like things he can't identify and I had to draw his attention to the fact he hadn't had his early morning pee....

Very funny! There are advantages in having people like me who get up early in the morning. About 12 years ago it was snowing and I found German Anna unconscious in the back street. If I hadn't seen her and got the police and ambulance out I doubt if she could have survived because she was covered with snow. Unusually, she thanked me about a month later..... Now she was freezing!

Lucy and Charlie are very interesting looking dogs, have we discussed what breeds they are? What were they originally bred for (to do)?
