A very happy customer!
Not quite as old as your dad Liz, but with all the pieces of technology I own in all probability only 20% of their functions are used. The books that came with them are like novels, but not as interesting to read, many hundreds of pages and usualy about 25mm thick, and they are not multi language.

Febby has logged on as a searcher for the missing Malaysian Aircraft. He is searching a portion of ocean for any signs of wreckage in a grid pattern, though we can't work out exactly where he is! ( I guess they just allocated an area to him).

It is keeping him quiet at least...though every now and then he finds a boat and gets a bit excited.
Oh good on him. At least he is doing something worthwhile.

It certainly is a mystery...

You're right Maz, it is and there is a lot they aren't making public. I see that they have now mentioned the real time reporting system which the RR engines carry and is separate from the other systems. Do Boeing have a similar system for the aircraft? One thing is certain, Boeing will be very exercised about this, the 777 carries so much new technology and some of it has already caught them out. Remember the exploding batteries?
Today I shall be finishing the incredibly skilled machining required for the fancy washers on my gate and lacing it all back together.... I might even call in at the opticians again to see if my readers have arrived....

Missing plane looking more like a deliberate act of re-direction...possibly hijacked.
I am thinking Febby and I have done with plane travel. I am a nervous flyer at the best of times. I am not keen on pushing our luck again. I feel for the families of those missing.

Slight hiccough this morning when I found that my outside light has gone AWOL. Bulb blown but terminal burned off as well. It's been a good servant for £5, lasted about six years. I have ordered an identical lamp for £11.

It's been a State Election day here is SA so TV tonight is full of post-mortems, guess what - I'm not interested. I notice that the football is still being shown on one channel -typically Australian, not much stops the sport. Thank goodness for the internet!!

This morning anyway was taken up with a first training outing on the bikes for The Way of the Roses bike ride which runs the 170 miles from Morecambe to Bridlington. BE Bosom Friends which we are involved with are doing the charity ride at August Bank Holiday weekend to raise funds for the group. We don't know whether or not we will be able to put all the training in yet in order to take part but are intending to get as many of the practice runs in as we can and then re-assess a bit later in the year. Family commitments and holidays may impact on the regime but we'll have to see. If we can't make the ride we will be doing support along the route.

Just after the new year it became apparent that I would soon need to buy new coin trays for my collection of £2, and £1 coins. Today they announce the new 12 sided £1 coin. Now I can wait till 2017 for its issue before finding whats available. Maybe my syrup tin full of thruppenny bits, can be put to use and offered in new and old sets as a novelty.

Today whilst the sunshines, I shall be off fishing, far better than being stuck in the house. Then fish and chips for two to be purchased on the way home.
