The land line is fine, tried it as you suggested and there doesn't appear to be a problem there. Our line is via isp not with bt directly.
What puzzles me is I can access orange email through our wifi on the iPhone, but not on iPad or laptop.
When we got the bright box last week the iPad couldn't get access, I went to library and accessed it ok there, came home, tried again here and it worked. Doesn't sound plausible but it did.
Might be a daft idea but I'm going passed the library this morning so will try it there again, come home, and see what happens.
Thankyou for your suggestions.

I have been to the library and the iPad accessed my orange email with no probs. Came home and it is now accessing it here as well!!! There has to be a simple explanation for this, but I don't know what it is.
If this solves it then I presume I have to do the same with the laptop, ie go to library, connect it there, come home and see if it connects here.
I think I must be going stupid as I must be missing something really simple here.

Your router box provides a WiFi hot spot. Have you tried disconnecting the iPad and laptop from that source. Reboot them and get them to renegotiate the connection. WiFi enabled devices remember the sources they are connected to, the iPad and laptop may well be hanging on to your old WiFi settings. Your iPhone may be better on switching it's sources. Have you given your WiFi on the new box a different name to what it had before?

I can connect to the Internet with all of them with no problem, they all speak to the new router. What the iPad and laptop struggle with is getting into orange emails. I can go on any internet site with anything, except orange emails. I can get onto "orange" but when I put in my email details it won't load it.
This is making me feel dead stupid.

Very strange Gloria, do you get any kind of error message or do they just time out?

Just times out.
Going to the library worked with the iPad, so, tomorrow I shall take the laptop and try with that. I just can't understand why that worked with the iPad, but it did.

Must be very frustrating Gloria! I hope you find the cause.

It still smacks as a connection or throughput error.

Would be the logical answer Panbiker, but it's working fine connecting to everything else, on every device, just this orange email thing. Still fine on iPhone and iPad. I am off to the library with the laptop, daft idea if it works but it did for the iPad.

Been to library with laptop, connected it to orange email, fine, came home and did the same...... connected fine.
I have no idea what is going on, but it is all working.
Any ideas as to how, why or where would be gratefully received, I am stumped.

A quick Google shows a number of people have been experiencing connectivity issues with Orange mail...

The common denominator with your iPad and iPhone is that they will have much faster CPU's than your laptop, this could tip the balance.

For now it is working on everything, I will be back if it all fails again.
Orange have been having email problems on and off for a while, we keep thinking of changing, but I think they are all pretty much the same.
Thanks for your help.

I still advocate a gmail account and have it collecting the Orange/EE stuff. You can set it so it sends mail as its from the Orange account so it continues to work without telling everyone you have a different email address.

Will I also be able to see all the saved email folders and contacts? Or is it like going on mail2web where all I seem to get are literally, the emails?
Thanks.

Folders and contacts are a function of the plaform. You have them in gmail, whether you can import them from whatever you're using now is debatable. Contacts are automatic, once you've use them once, they just work. Comparing mail2web with gmail is a bit like comparing a BMW with a pogo stick. Sign up for an account, it doesn't cost anything and see it for yourself. I wouldn't go back.

Gloria, my solution yo my interminable Orange problems was to ditch them. But then I always have favoured the nuclear option. Hope you get out of the hole soon!

Its good to have an email that isn't tied to your ISP anyway so when you do jump ship, you're not left in email limboland. They usually keep the address alive for a time after you leave, but they have no obligation to.

We've been using Fastmail as our alternative email provider for about 10 years with no problems. We started with Operamail which then became Fastmail. Accounts start at $10 a year. Fastmail

Think I shall take that advice to be on the safe side.
I've had fun again this morning so I have rebooted the bright box and everything seems to be normal, but I shan't hold my breath.

I second that, and I think there is a free version with limited storage .. However clicking the link took me to my 'in box'. I hope it doesn't do that for everyone.

You can only speak as you find. Firefox on Talk Talk performs well except when they are doing their upgrades early in the morning when I am on.... They even delivered mail addressed to my old Freeserve account the other day. It's been dead for years.... I was quite impressed!

I came across this problem a few months ago, and Pluggy kindly pointed me in the right direction to avoid compulsory installation. Now the pressure is increasing since I learn that the free upgrade is only available until the end of July 2016. Looks like I wasn't the only one to be annoyed at being railroaded into the change.

Windows 10

I tried to 'try before you install' by getting out my old laptop with a view to installing it where it didn't matter too much. That failed because the version of Windows on it, did not qualify for the free upgrade. The clock is now ticking - dilemma.

I'm tempted to do nothing - I guess W7 will still work, but the idea of eventually having to pay Mr Gates is not attractive. Why can't people leave things that are working alone?

I upgraded my laptop with no problem at all but the main PC is another matter. I have tried three times to upgrade it, deleting previous downloads and clearing out the auto update entries in the registry between each attempt.

It progresses for about 30 minutes then stops on a fatal error which when cleared rolls the machine back to Windows 7. The error code it offers has about 50 different resolutions, in other words it's an unknown error so it just chucks everything at you to try. The machine is my lads old gaming machine so has CPU, memory and graphics fit for the job, it has four hard drives configured as two volumes on separate channel raid arrays. System drive is two Toshiba mirrored drives to give 220Mb the data drives are two Western Digital units on a striped array providing 2Tb. Nothing wrong with the machine as such but it's probably the Mainboard and associated drivers that it's cribbing at.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Windows-8-1-P ... Sw3YNXX6ag

You can use it to directly install Windows 10 until the end of next month. It's probably a grey escapee from a country where M$ flogs windows cheap.

As for an old machine with a RAID system, I'd tweak the BIOS so it isn't a RAID any more.......
