Yesterday we went to the "New" Carrington Centre in Eccleston to drop some bits off at the charity shop. There were a few people hanging around waiting for the "grand opening", so we waited AND along came the Grand National Winners Hedgehunter and Ballabrigs, they looked and behaved wonderfully. They were an absolute credit to their handlers and never put a foot wrong whilst people had photos taken with them. They were walked up and down, stood still, posed---all taken in their stride with smiles on their faces. Really glad we bumped into that.

They are taken on my ipad and added directly from it. The turning thing seems to be totally random. They are ok on my ipad . I was told to hold my ipad in a particular way when taking photos to stop this proble. To be honest it makes no difference!

Maz & Cathy, thanks for your advice for my Mum. She has always had mobility problems and for many years has used something very similar to the log roll technique for getting out of bed. Her problem now is that she doesn't think she has the strength in her arms to either push herself into a sitting position or pull herself up using a grab handle or "sky hook". I think she could, but she has lost her confidence and any attempt to get her to have a go while I'm there to help causes a panic attack. I'm going back tomorrow and we may try again if she is feeling more positive.

Thinking even more seriously about articles.... It's nagging at me!
Ian, every time I read about one of your trips I thank my lucky stars I don't have to do them now.

Bike riding this morning, 23 miles with a few hills, we should be warm enough! No idea where we are going, Kate is leading this morning as her husband and trainer Mick is away. Just finished my porridge and about to get ready.

This morning I've been putting up St George flags around Barlick with some volunteers from Barnoldswick's traders.

Tonight, showing the last of our week long run of films at the Rainhall Centre; the children's films have been very popular and we've had to shoehorn people in on several occasions.

It's time to move the ponies from their overwinter section of the field, so today's task is to get the old quad bike out and harrow & roll the bit they'll spend the rest of the year on.

Back home today. We were expecting builders to repair the hail damaged conservatory roof. They have cancelled and asked if they can do it at the weekend. The answer is of course NO as we have visitors for the weekend and we have had to put the conservatory furniture in the spare bedroom. Now we have to wait two weeks!

I can't believe little Erin is 6 weeks old on Saturday. After a tough start life has settled down and at last she has started to gain weight. With it has come a degree of tranquility in the Rooke household .

Lovely pic! My day bed was a drawer with a blanket in it....
Wendy, don't things look tidy when you have chain harrowed! Start in the middle and do a crop circle?

It is a gorgeous photo.

Stanley, my younger sister spent all her early days sleeping in a drawer. We tease her now that it was so we could close it if she got loud.

So did my dad, in a drawer next to the fire, fed with a fountain pen innards. He was very premature.

You're clocking the miles up! Watch out for vicious car park pillars....
I feel guilty, my main agenda items are Singapore Grand Prix, snooker and enjoying watching Michaela walking round the table.... (I know but it's a harmless occupation!) Oh, the washing is in and motoring on! (Did some light housework yesterday, don't know what came over me....)

The last few days I have found myself watching live reports on tele of Wills and Kate doings their tours 'of our best spots'. Lovely to see, they have been hugely welcomed, weather has been great for them and we have seen George up close on a few occasions. I'm just off to polish my silver - they visit Adelaide tomorrow. (or maybe Tuesday... anyway...) :)
I know I'm in my own little world, but it's OK... they know me here. :)

We have mainly been taking our Ruby back down to Stratford. M6 was relatively kind to us, 340 mile round trip just a bit slow in two spots. House will be a bit quiet now, but nice to have her of course, her reading is coming along nicely and I have contributed to her school literacy diary for the two books she has been reading to me.

Having a day off hospital visiting as other folk are wanting to see Mum this afternoon. Going for a walk soon to blow the cobwebs away.
