A change is as good as a rest Wendy, take the time while you can. Not easy when all your instincts are are telling you, you have to be there or other such feelings of responsibility. A walk will help to sort your head out, grab it while you have the opportunity. I take it Colin is on the mend?

Just back from a nice walk down Dodgsons Lane, past Fiddling Clough and Oakslack then into Earby by the youth hostel and back up the hill via Standridge Clough Lane. A lovely walk in sunshine this morning and no mud!!
Col is fine thanks Ian, building up his strength ready to start work on the kitchen in May.

Nice to hear Colin is doing OK. I have just ordered some more timber from Lanlee. Sally wants me to make another raised bed for the front garden. Plastic mesh for the lids out of stock but due in tomorrow. Planks and rails in stock so I have asked them to deliver when the mesh comes in. Should get the makings tomorrow or Wednesday. I'll put my cordless drill on charge.

If you run short of anything, particularly big wood screws, give me a shout. I shall never need them again and I have plenty!
Wrote the article yesterday and I feel much better! Gave the stove a good clean out as well after letting it go cold overnight. All the flues cleaned out and firebars de-clinkered. It won't need touching before next winter....

Dad, last time Burnley made the Premier League. He was chuffed. We think he has been blowing the ball from heaven this season

That reminds me of a line from a Goon Show (yes, showing my age), Hercules Grytpype-Thynne querying of Eccles why the white flag he was carrying was so dirty. "Have you had it up a pole?" "Yes! And he didn't like it!"

Yesterday I got a phone call from the GP surgery. I have a cancellation appointment today for minor surgery on my ankle. I got two nasty insect bites in the same spot , one in France and one in Venice a week later. It developed into a fibrous cyst which itches and rubs on my walking boots. Should be just a 15 minute job then out to lunch with the grandchildren. They all go home today. I shall be glad of the peace and quiet, they are so boisterous.

Sue, the cyst sounds a bit like a problem Mrs Tiz had a couple of years ago. After a day in the garden she had what she thought was a small `spell' in her hand, in the pad of skin between thumb and index finger. It couldn't be got out easily but it was small and we forgot about it. Eventually she ended up with a cyst that bled and needed a visit to hospital for minor surgery. I think it must have been either an insect's sting or a tiny plant thorn that was serrated in such a way that it worked itself further into the skin as her hand flexed.

5 minute job. Local anaesthetic, then scraped out. Not even a stitch. No pain at all. Glad it's done.

I have discovered this wonderful diet. Eat what you want, have cakes, puddings afternoon and morning treats, glasses of wine every night after 8.00 pm and lose three pounds in 4 days. Oh yes forgot the bit about needing to have a two year old and a 5 year old to stay for a long weekend!

Take care where you park. I went in the multi storey near by and my car had the window smashed, and the radio stolen . Ruined a nice weekend.

We parked in an open, empty car park across the dual carriageway from the museum. We enjoyed all 4 hours we were there. Excellent.
