Today I have been doing more house clearing and am finding it increasingly overwhelming, which has surprised me because I thought I could handle it. A seventeen year old me helped to design the bungalow, and wrote long letters home from college and from Berkeley Castle when I worked there as a governess and they have all been saved by Mum. She kept detailed diaries of our daily lives from the late 1950's onwards....help,I'm lost in the past!!

Keep them all. I have great pleasure in reading my Mums and dads letters and my grandmas diaries. We also have all the letters we wrote to Bobs mum and dad, plus photos of new carpets etc.

I think Sue is right, a pain at the moment but later when you have got a straight edge you will have lots to look back on.
I shall be going on as usual but keeping close to the phone as I expect the hospital to call with an early appointment with the retinal surgeon. If I haven't heard by 11AM I am to ring them....

What is the matter with your eye Stanley, have I missed something whilst away. Wifi was a bit intermittent where we were staying and I couldn't always get online.

Sue, went blind in right eye on Thursday, by Saturday I had seen the eye doctor at Burnley and it's a detached retina. I should get news of an appointment with the retinal surgeon this morning. They are moving fast and from what they say, by the end of the week they'll have it welded on again. Thanks for asking....
I'm going for the sympathy vote with an eye patch...... It's working!

You have my sympathy Stanley, when I was about 6yrs old I had an op on my eyes at Bradford Ear and Eye Hospital, and when I was about 8 - 10yrs old I had to wear an eye patch ( a circular disc of cotton wool thingy) for a while, I think it was meant to strengthen my weak eye. I remember many appointments at the kiddies hospital here in Adelaide and waiting hours each time and having to be very patient. I don't think any of it made any difference. Treatments are much better these days ofcourse. Good Luck

I think there is some requirement about posture but I'll attack that when I come to it. These things are never as bad as we imagine... Today I have to shift Jack's schedule forward 90 minutes so he doesn't suffer when I abandon him at 08:15! So, off for the first walk now!

Sue...you are right...in the good old days prior to laser surgery I'm pretty sure one had to lie flat for a week and hope like hell that the retina reattached itself. Not even allowed to sit up for meals or toilet. Bed baths for a week. What misery!

Gee, thanks for that! I don't think it's as bad now Maz. I remember that at one time after cataract surgery the patients head was strapped to the bed head to stop any movement.....

Nursing my back, it isn't a bad storm and should soon get better. A nerve must have shifted slightly in my back. An old enemy!
Going to Burnley for pre-op at 13:00.
Making sure Jack is well catered for and has minimal disturbance in his day. Serious stuff when you have to leave a 24X7 dog on his own.

I would go as far as to say that your back problem has been especially sent to you at this time Stanley. It happened to me just before an op and took my mind off what was about to happen. It's all good.

You could be right Cathy. It certainly slowed me down! Broke my rules and took one paracetamol yesterday and one this morning. Much better by last night, good sleep and it will be OK today.
Today I deal with Jack, Mick picks him up at 11:00 complete with his tea. He spends the day with his mates Tillie and Jemma at Susan's. I get scrubbed up for the op at 12:30. Hopefully I shall be home around 18:00. Exciting day!

Off to dental hospital in Manchester this morning. And then quickly back to help with a German exchange visit this afternoon. They are walking the Stream and Steam trail this morning, with visits to Bancroft and the New Ship. All being well, I'll be pressing the buttons on a lovely little film about Barlick put together by the Visit Barnoldswick team.

All goes well so far, see Medical Matters. I shall be looking after myself and sticking to my complicated eye drop timetable. I had to write it out as a plan!

Thanks for the thought Sue. Getting better. See my post this morning in medical matters...
I wrote a BET article yesterday on going blind.... No day is wasted when an article has been written.
Today I shall be hiding the bondage gear and the sex toys before my cleaners invade......

No wonder you are having trouble with your eyesight, Stanley. Bondage and Sex Toys? Bound to send you blind.
( just the thought of it makes me shut my eyes, but then again, I am only young)
Leave them out and give the cleaners something to twitter about...it will put a rose in their cheeks.

Always knew it...
I've got a date with Bill and Ben at 8am near the town centre toilets; have got a big hunky handler coming to move them. The handler has been in the fields for the last few weeks. It'll be a relief to get it done and dusted. Will try and get a picture.
All part of the town titivation pre regional Britain in Bloom judging.
