New York is a good place for bridges. You couldn't do this pic now, it was from the World Trade Tower in 1980.....

I forgot to report that we pulled the invoice for the Lumix camera and found that it is actually a £400 camera that we bought on offer. Still out of warranty though, I went on the Panasonic site and found the UK hub for repairs. Checking their website DK AVS in Horley shows they are the primary repair centre in the country for all makes of cameras and AV products. They offer a free estimation service for Panasonic digital cameras so I sent it off.
Turns out the airline would not have effected a repair. Fault was traced to the lens master flange and frame which are the parts within the lens that control the zoom and focus. £40.00 labour and £34.99 for parts, strip down, repair, clean and reassemble. £75.00 for a functioning £400 camera or a replacement and it's no contest.I accepted the estimate and they turned it round in just less than a week, postman brought it back today. Very efficient service and the status of repairs can be chased on their website. Fully functional again so we will see how we go.

Great news Ian. Probably a lot cheaper than buying an extended warranty for it too :-)

Yes Kev, I think when offered it was around £95.00.

That's good. Usually such repairs are uneconomical.....

One of my wedding pics was entered into the Stirk House Hotel wedding photography competition yesterday, it's currently through to the top 20. https://www.facebook.com/media/set ... 3578239
This is the image the bride entered. I'd be grateful for a vote on it if any of you are on Facebook :-)

I've done the same - for the simple reason that it is the best photo on the page.

I am very pleased to say that the response to my image has been really good, it's now in 3rd place. There's still a few days left to vote if any of you have a couple of minutes to click on the link above (it's not a scam of any kind, the link takes you to the Stirk House Hotel Facebook page) and 'like' my image. The bride and groom have the chance to win a great night out and I will get something as the photographer :-)

Looks like I won although it's not been confirmed yet. I was 1400 in front of the 2nd placed image at the close of play so I don't think there'll be a steward's inquiry :-)
