Re: GOOD TV
Did you really Wendy, the bloke came over as a perfect example of the holier than though landed gentry. He might actually be a right nice bloke really but he doesn't deserve any electric that's for sure. Better than the other alternative I have often thought of which would involve standing against a wall!

Re: GOOD TV
It was an interesting experience, but I didn't stick it for long - couldn't quite handle the social divide.Went there from teaching a class of 50 miner's kids in Mexborough. Its a beautiful place though, packed full of history.

Re: GOOD TV
The BBC drama, Our Girl, with Lacey Turner was good viewing last night. I also noticed that ITV are showing some more feature length episodes of Endeavour soon, looking forward to those.

Re: GOOD TV
Interesting programme on Boris last night. Conformed many of my opinions about him. As for Boris for PM. If it's going to happen it will and I suspect that if he got it he could grow into the job, he's got a good brain and it's hard to see how he could be worse than the present incumbent....

Watched Danny Boyle's 'Sunshine', I had recorded it. Totally baffled! I don't think my mind functions at that level..... (LINK)

Re: GOOD TV
Very disappointed with "The Village" last night. Excellent cast with John Sim and Maxine Peake in the lead roles, but it just didn't seem to work. I got too annoyed with scenes like the one with farmer John Sim hacking away at a large & very modern looking field of wheat with a scythe. The camera cut briefly to smartly tacked-up carthorse....what was that doing there and why did he just just walk off and leave it? Lots of little niggles like that just spoilt it for me. Any one else watch it?

Re: GOOD TV
We did Wendy, didn't pick up on the stuff you mentioned but I suppose this depends on your own experiences and what you are looking for from a drama. Will give it another watch to see how it develops.
I watched "Our Girl" on the IPlayer, missed it when it was first aired last week and forgot to record. Enjoyed that with Lacey Turner in the lead role of the East End working class girl joining the Army. Well received apparently and may ultimately be turned into a series.

I watched that too, Ian, but felt it should have been longer. It appeared very summarised, good viewing though.PanBiker wrote:We did Wendy, didn't pick up on the stuff you mentioned but I suppose this depends on your own experiences and what you are looking for from a drama. Re: GOOD TV
I thought it was a series but a bit of googling said that it may become one, testing the water I suppose. Left it at the end of basic training so plenty of scope for more. Would watch if it comes up.

Re: GOOD TV
Watched a good programme on BBC4 about a man navigating the River Trent in a canoe. One highlight was archive footage of the winter of 1947 and the consequent flood. Some very good images and you don't see much of this weather event.

Re: GOOD TV
I watched "Our Girl" and thought she was killed in the end on active service - resurrection for a series.....bit like The Blue Lamp and Dixon of Dock Green. Nolic

Re: GOOD TV
I don't think it was Laceys character Molly that was shown being repatriated. I think the scene was there to show that her rather indifferent parents had finally woken up to what she was doing and the importance of her role in the Army. Finishing with her final letter being read over the repatriation as if it were her own. If she had been killed I cannot see for the life in me that even her totaly dysfunctional parents would only watch the event on TV.

I recorded the Millennium trilogy over the weekend (Girl with dragon tattoo etc) and I watched them over the last two nights. Riveting films and crying out for a sequel.....

Endeavour, Sunday April 14th 8pm ITV1. Hopefully it will be as good as the pilot episode.

I noted that as well. I have the pilot on the HDD and haven't watched it yet but I shall before Sunday. I'm quite enjoying Victoria Wood on Tea.....

Re: GOOD TV
Never saw the pilot and I've done the same as you Kev. I've got to admit I was never a big fan or Morse....I found it too slow. We watched the first episode - recorded last week of the new Swedish crime drama by Arne Dahl about an elite police unit. Fast paced , interesting characters and the subtitles don't bother us after we enjoyed both series of Borgen and The Killing. Nolic

Re: GOOD TV
I watched the pilot - just an everyday tale of a crossword loving, cryptic clue leaving, opera singer from Oxford who was murdered.
Far too fanciful and contrived for my taste. Gave up half way through. Didn't watch or record the main progamme - watched the Masters golf instead.

Re: GOOD TV
I watched Endeavour again and enjoyed it but I'll admit the plots are a bit contrived. But it's reasonably entertaining TV at the very least and as such is better than most of what is on offer. Programmes like 'The Voice' and competitive sewing leave me cold.....

The last episode of Broadchurch last night. We have been gripped for weeks and last nights episode was very emotional.

I watched the BBC4 programme on Treblinka last night. I think I've seen it before but a very moving programmes and we should never forget. Makes me want to read 'God's Playground' again, the history of Poland.
