Looking at the thread they are on the right lines contacting Pendle regarding the cemetery. Robert Careswell is the keeper of the database records for Ghyll Cemetery. He was instrumental in finding the unmarked grave of Wilfred Anker for us when we looking.

On the Barlickers then and Now Facebook site there is a newspaper article from 1964 about Gisburn Road Junior School winning the annual 'Bird and Tree' week competition. I can't remember which year I took part but I still have my medal. I wrote about a robin and a lime tree. Funny what you remember.

I've moved house many times since the 1960's, the last time just 4 years ago; of all things I could have kept for 50 years I wonder why that is the one thing I can immediately lay my hands on.

I googled it to see if I could find any more information - would you believe a medal was just sold on Ebay? Just goes to show that some people will buy anything!

I have my Ladybird "What do to in Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter" books that I was given for my entry into the Bird and Tree Competion. They all have a certificate in the front. I did the Thrush and the Oak tree. I remember climbing over the fence into the Modern School grounds to get a bark rubbing from the Oak tree that is just next to the road on the lane down to the marina.

Lancashire C C have published their draft "East Lancashire Highways and Transport Masterplan". A large tome designed to bore the reader to death in the hope that they give up before getting to any important bits. Full of history and trivia and the usual pie in the sky wishful thinking. The plan detail can be accessed through..
http://www.lancashire.gov.uk/corporate/ ... =43429&e=e
which then enables a PDF to be downloaded (view consultation documents. Right hand side) East Lancashire Masterplan...

The main point for Barlick area is the inclusion of the Colne to Earby bypass scheme. My own view on this subject is that the road will blight a lovely area of countryside while at the same time encourage even more Yorkshire traffic to divert through this area. Also, it is worth bearing in mind that once a road has been built the enclosed area between itself and another established road is often deemed "spoilt" and can be subject to further development.

The consultation period for this scheme ends 6 Dec 2013. Please make sure you have your say.

A very small thing. I only have to wear my eye shield in bed for another two sleeps! Good, I hate it!
Also my attention was caught by a letter in Private Eye, Pedants Corner, correcting the spelling used in a piece on the Goons. Could this possibly be anything to do with our resident doctor of biochemistry?

The launch of Pendle's 'Festive Fandango'.

This is a promotion to encourage using local independent shops in Barnoldswick, Colne and Nelson.

By spending £5 or more in participating businesses, you get a Festive Fandango sticker. Collect five stickers from different shops and your completed postcard goes into a draw for a hamper worth over £1,000.

When returned, each completed postcard earns the shopper a Festive Fandango book of vouchers which can be redeemed at participating outlets in the new year.

It's a scheme we've copied (with their permission) from Hebden Bridge, where it's been running for 3 or 4 years with great success.

There are lots of shops in Barlick taking part and Pendle Valley Markets (the Barlick market) as well.

The irony of Paul Walker, star of the Fast and Furious films, dying as a passenger in a speeding red Porsche car in LA.
Eight dead in the Clutha Bar in Glasgow. The police think that the pilot was trying to use the flat roof as a landing pad when he lost all power. As one survivor remarked, you don't expect a helicopter to drop on the pub when you go for a drink. I am reminded of the Infinite Improbability Drive in Hitch-hiker's Guide, the odds against were billions to one against but suddenly dropped to zero. Bit like a horse standing on your foot but more serious!

Don't want to know about things going wrong at the moment, my daughter is overseas on holidays. I know, I know things can go wrong wherever you are, even just 5 minutes from home.

Grand daughter Yiota flew to Costa Rica yesterday. I have asked her mother if she is going to be allowed to return...
The arguments about how to kill badgers. It struck me that you don't hear any arguments based on inhumanity when killing rats, or cockroaches.... Make your own list. I'm not in favour of the cull but am forced to admit that we do seem to have double standards.

An Olympic diver has 'revealed' he is gay. So what? Does it really have to be world-wide news? Or have I missed something?

Pete, you'll be pleased to know I took your advice. I decided that as there were no pockets in a shroud I'd buy the Olympus bins you recommended. Ordered them yesterday and they are supposed to arrive today. I'll let you know what I think of them!

Hits are now starting to build up on the revised LTP2013.

That could have been me, Panny. I tried several times to access the LTP but everything was "locked".
Everything I clicked on didn't work.

The locked status on everything was a means to an end to suppress some of the normal features of the threads. The LTP is constructed from mined code from a separate installation of the site with only the LTP files and images loaded to it. The resultant code looks like a normal PHPBB bulletin board, the same as the live site but it is just static code and should work.

I have just checked access with my "Regular User" alter ego, the same permissions as you have and had full access. I could access all the threads which presented the data as expected. With my admin hat on I will retry this using your actual permissions from your user account and see what happens.

Checked it using your permissions Maz and it works OK. I then logged out and checked it as a guest user of the site which is the lowest permission set for browsing the site. I can access as a guest user as well.

You can't interact with the threads like on the live site so there is no reply or anything like that, just basic click navigation between the threads. Just ignore the locked flags and have another go.

The thread below the LTP2013 link for comments is a normal one and you can post at will in there. The downloads thread will shortly have various options for downloading the project in different formats.

Oh..ok..Thankyou. Hope I haven't kept you up late doing all that.
I first tried yesterday as a guest...then logged in.
Will give it another go later, and if there is a bother I will let you know.

I think you will like it once you get in Maz. Adding the images to the threads is a major enhancement over the previous version and really brings the transcripts to life.

You don't ask these men things like that Maz. If they fall off, you scrape them up, mould them back into shape and send them back up the ladder. They made a good job and here's the reason the ridge tiles failed:

Image

Instead of re-using the original terra cotta ridge tiles which would have been OK, they used these, made out of some sort of inferior fibre glass. The new ones are concrete and will last me out.

Image

The roof is now perfect and the gutters cleaned out. Good job and less than £250. Job sorted!

On another matter, surgeon at Gisburne Park has checked me out and discharged me with two perfect eyes....

Then I am glad the job went well with no incidents.
But without insurance, it would not be my roof they will slip from and end up debilitated or dead.

Attracted my attention.

Did you see Mr Ding miss two consecutive pots on the pink - either of which would have saved him from losing the match.

I've never seen the like and I'm calling for a Stewards' Enquiry.
