We couldn't put that one down Kev after the first episode so we watched the lot on demand. They often say that truth is stranger than fiction a variant of which is the tag line of the series, we enjoyed it too for the characterisations of real people.

I just watched a full episode of Hollyoaks whilst seeking refuge from the preliminaries to the England Wales World Cup game.

Slick and fast moving - I find it's set in Chester, but subtitles would have been helpful for some of the cast. Hard to keep up with the plot - a 19 year old girl gets a cancer diagnosis (though there seems to some doubt) , a young Asian looking girl has a deep conversation with her dad about 'her coming out' , a bended knee proposal is (obviously) rejected, so he goes to New Zealand, like you do, and two young ladies get a lot more friendly than is usual on mainstream television.

That's a lot to take in in one episode. Can't wait for tomorrow - I'm hooked.

It was very good, wasn't it. Created for TV by Stephen Knight, the man responsible for Peaky Blinders.

The Devil's Hour.

We watched this 6 part series. It was very good in my opinion. The plot jumps around in time quite a lot so if you decide to watch it you'll have to pay attention.

A second and third series has been commissioned.

We watched this documentary last night and found it very interesting.

Good Night Oppy
The film follows Opportunity, the Mars Exploration Rover affectionately dubbed Oppy by her creators and scientists at NASA. Oppy was originally expected to live for only 90 days but she ultimately explored Mars for nearly 15 years.

I've dipped into the BBC three times at random today-

1. Radio 5 this morning for a preview perhaps of the England football game tonight. Heard Tom Daley speaking in great detail abot his husband, and the hobby of knitting which had turned into a design business. Fascinating.

2. Radio 4 - programme about a poet from Iraq - that didn't detain me long. . .

3 Antique's Road Show - from Culzean Castle in Scotland. A black guy was showing a silver sugar bowl, with a milk jug and tongs dating to 1791. Very little was said about the silver but lots about the slaves who were responsible for growing the sugar.

I think there might be an agenda here.

This one came as a surprise, an 8 part series on Netflix. Wednesday. We've watched 6 of the 8 and it's been very good so far.
If you remember The Addams Family it's their daughter, Wednesday, and they've sent her to a private school. It may not be everyone's thing but it has comedy, a touch of 'horror' and some teenage angst. I'd recommend giving it a go (if you have Netflix).

I watched the first two episodes of Lucy Worsley on Agatha Christie last night and enjoyed them. I knew the story but Lucy gives a very clear and entertaining version.
Just one thing, I was struck be the poor quality of Lucy's make up. I think she ought to get some advice. Sorry, I don't usually make comments like that but it was quite bad and a distraction from her story.
I shall be back tonight....

I was going to watch the last of Agatha Christie but by accident fell into an early episode of the silent film, 'The General' with Buster Keaton. I enjoyed it so much I watched all 9 episodes and was impressed by how large in scope the filming was with thousands of extras and horses. I really enjoyed it and would recommend anyone to watch it. Very instructive on the subject of early film making.

I caught the last episode of Agatha Christie and it was as good as the preceding three. A very good account of an interesting life. It held my attention throughout.

Good stuff, we enjoyed it too. We were prompted to watch the recent Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile film adaptations (Netflix), with Kenneth Brannagh as Poirot. Thoroughly enjoyed those.
