Stanley your Great Grandson looks like a very alert little fellow.
Latest report of Boxing Day Sales in Australia comes out at $1.9 billion, the stores opened their doors at 5am this morning.
$17.6 billion has been spent overall for the Christmas period, that's $763 spent by each person according to news-reports. (I listened to a lady at work the other day saying she had spent $5000.00 on her two teenage kids for Christmas presents and was wondering if it was enough and had she been fair... ??)

Cathy, he is that!
Maz, yes it's Alexander James. Sorry I should have said so you can keep up with the inexorable spread of my family!
Just popped into the Cathedral of Choice for a stew pack. The bad news is that I had a senior moment and left my debit card in the machine. The good news is that Brian chased round after me and gave it me back. Would you get the same service in a big city?

Sadly no Cathy. I have printed off flyers to take around the immediate area asking people to check outbuildings, garages sheds etc, that's the next task.

Within our area we have two farm complexes, Boothmans at Lane Ends, and Westfield Farm, I have spoken with the owners of the latter, they have had a similar cat there in the past few days. Izzy is a first rate mouser and brings several home each week, farms usually have mice somewhere, and at West Close they have cats. Boothmans which is an agricultural contractors has many outbuildings and is the most likely of the two, it has been closed since last Sunday, all locked up. I have spoken with the owner by phone and they are opening up tomorrow, he will do a check round all of the buildings. All other properties in Izzy's patch have been leafleted. Its all down to waiting now, and I do not think that there is more that I can do, physically I feel wrecked.

The fact that we were warned of damaging winds 'up to 90mph' during the night. Just a slight breeze out there.....

Rain and wind send me into a deep sleep very easily, it's only when someone forgets to close a gate or shed door securely causing bang bang/scrape scrape noises that I then wake up and can't get back to sleep, makes me livid.

I think we'd be all right in bed together Cathy, I am the same.... It turns out though that the wind is a bit later coming in than they thought yesterday, getting up now and will peak in early afternoon.

This is the first thing I see when I switch on each day. It's really starting too annoy me. No punctuation, and the use of an adjective as a noun.

Alter the way you log o0n David. Make normal opening screen the desktop and then select your opening page in Firefox as 'current' in preferences while you have the screen with the login panel on OGFB up on the screen. You'll never be annoyed again!
The fact that we had a mainly dry day with a blustery wind, certainly not the end of the world!

I am pleased to say that the Cat "Izzy" is alive and well, he is also about 14 miles away at a farmhouse near to Long Preston. I will put the full story in the Cats World topic.

Glad you have closure Peter. Cats are cats and not really domesticated, they use humans as a resource and are best regarded as being purely selfish. Dogs are, to certain extent, the same but thankfully can be more easily bonded to.
The reports of a new anti-smoking campaign for the New Year which will emphasise the poisons generated and their ill effects. Wouldn't it be nice, and a lot more productive in terms of lives saved, if the same fervour were to be applied to alcohol, processed food and air quality!

An alert has come in today of another two cats in need of urgent help, six year old sisters who's owner has died, currently still in their home and being tended by relatives. We have offered help, in that if no suitable new owner can found soon, we will take them in. This may take my mind off recent events Ref; Izzy, but our offer is genuine and if needs be, these two will be most welcome. What happens next in regard to Izzy is under due consideration, I do not like what has been done but my main concern is for his future welfare, he deserves that at least.

Cathy. I thought it better to ignore Maz's wooden spoon post. You know what I meant! Anyway, it's none of their business what we do.....
