Another good match in which Mark Williams beat Ronnie O'Sullivan in a deciding frame.

Today it was Judd Trump winning a deciding frame to beat Barry Hawkins. Not the best match play ever, both players slightly off peak but some flashes of total brilliance that kept the interest.

More good snooker as Mark Williams booked a place in the Final.....

If you have Netflix I'd recommend Bank of Dave, the story of Dave Fishwick setting up the Burnley bank.

Despite my fondness for the North East, and the episode being shot in Blyth (I think) with which I had a connection once -I gave up on Vera. It was just boring; so I gave Happy Valley a second chance. Put it this way - I'll be back for the next episode.
That said- I'm a bit disappointed by the way that vicar from Grantchester has turned out.

He always looked a bit dodgy to me...

I've been on a nostalgia Fest courtesy of BBC iPlayer and the centenary celebrations. Last night I watched House of Cards and the night before the second half of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Sailor. Both cracking good productions. (Francis Urquhart was evil!)

I carried on down the archival road last night and started to re-watch Wolf Hall, the TV adaptation of the late Hilary Mantel's trilogy on Thomas Cromwell. Superb acting...

Happy Valley still gripping for me, and Silent Witness, I do like how the episodes run over two days, much easier to remember what has gone on.

Apparently they have recorded multiple endings for Happy Valley, the potential is certainly there.
Great minds think alike Gloria, Silent Witness is also a must see for us.

Silent Witness took all the attention trying to understand it. It certainly kept us quiet, even though afterwards I had to think hard what had just happened we did enjoy it.

We tried the first episode of the new series of Silent Witness and weren't impressed to be honest. Different strokes, I suppose...
We watched episode 3 of Frozen Planet. Good stuff.

Well - I'm watching Happy Valley because I said I would - however the audio is almost unintelligible - and the plot is totally so.
It's probably me - there'll be rave reviews tomorrow.

We put the subtitles on, and it was really good.

I haven't looked at the latest series yet. I suspect I'd have the same problem as David.....
I have kept away because I am not into angst these days and suspect there might be a fair helping of it from the trailers I have seen.....

I have to say we didn't really have a problem with the audio. Teh scope is certainly there for multiple different endings. I reckon it will be a bit like Gunfight at the OK Coral but without the guns.

Speaking of subtitles...
We watched a Swedish film called "A Man Called Ove" last night and it was excellent.
Tom Hanks is starring in an English version called "A Man Called Otto". I'm sure it wont be anywhere as good as the original Swedish version.
I have now read all of Fredrik Backmans books and the characters in the film were just as I imagined them to be which is pretty unusual.

Well - the BBC weren't joking when they said that their Freesat channel would be HD only after January. I accidently got about two days notice, and decided to ignore it and see what happened. They now regularly transmit an information screen telling me this.
Seems I now need a new 'box'. Isn't life complicated?

I don't understand that David. I have a Freesat box and haven't had any messages..... I wonder if it's different for us in the NW?

If your Freesat box is HD enabled the changes will happen automatically without any need for retuning, ch101 will become HD. David's box must be SD only.

I think you could be right Wendy, I think if I was David I'd try re-installing the box. I say this because my box was the first to be installed in Barlick and so must be one of the earliest models but I do re-install it regularly. You'd expect them to be the first to suffer.
