I like Helen Mirren but am not sure I would like to live with her! I enjoyed 'Reds', she is getting quite adventurous in her current roles...
I managed three hours on the editing yesterday, even though I am hampered by the wrong glasses things are slowly improving but I still can't read books. Working out what is on the TV is an adventure!
I borrowed my neighbour's power washer yesterday and the back yard is snow white! This cleaning has got to stop! Will do some more editing today....

I shall be editing again today. Very cruel job, all authors hate editors!

I finished the edit yesterday and it has been well received. Will probably do a paper on inserting pics into publications for David Sekers this morning.

Private Eye arrived yesterday but I can't read it! I shall most likely fill in my time with washing bedding, anything to pass the time.... Roll on my new glasses!

They had a survey a few months ago to talk about increasing the font size. Doesn't seem to have happened though. I sometimes get the magnifying glass out. That said - it seems to be losing its impact in the internet blog age. I wonder why I continue with it. Just a habit I suppose, and the fact that it's on direct debit. I usually weigh myself every P.E. day so it's a useful measure of a fortnight. Puzzled my GP when I told her I was on the Private Eye diet.

Yes, when the survey was done I could still see it.... I like my fortnightly immersion in the murky world. Worth the money for the cover...... Roll on next week!
Butcher's day today, they have been on holiday...

F1 qualifying at dinnertime. I shall be recording it because I am summoned to the big tent on the square at 10AM.

Oooo...ah...what happened in 't big tent then?
Father's Day in Oz tomorrow, so 10 for lunch today. Have just finished the last of the clearing up.
Pooped now. Might have to have a little Nana Nap.

Maz, nowt wrong with nana naps! Humans were built for two periods of sleep one at night and one after a good dinner. That's why I record F1, I can have my afternoon sleep, get up refreshed to watch the race and stop the recording any time I want to make my tea! I always have two hours in the afternoon but of course I'm up in good time in the mornings, no guilt!

oh that's ok then...cos I had another Nana Nap today after spending the morning riding our bikes along the coastal path. I misheard Febby this morning...I thought he said "Let's go for a paddle". So I agreed. So I wondered what he was doing getting the bikes out. Turns out he had said " Let's go for a PEDAL". ( that will teach me to pay attention!)
Mind you, it was lovely. Thoroughly enjoyed it...and I am sure the saddle-soreness will be gone by tomorrow...

Good Grief...
It isn't happening.
People would think something tragic had happened to a small animal...

I went with Claire to the swimming pool, as she was taking Erin, 6 months old today would you believe. Anyway, Erin wasn't having any of it just wanted to be warm and dry. Once we got her home she sat for over thirty minutes playing with her toys, reaching for new ones and investigating the ones she had. This was a first for her. Then I went home and spent three hours cutting back the plants in the back garden . It's amazing how much everything grew during our time in France.
In the morning the first stage of our repairs start. The carpenter is coming to start to re board the loft. Later in the week we are having our new bedroom ceiling. Can't wait to get it all done.

It'll feel great when you get straight Sue.
Ordering Condor tobacco online. Incredibly difficult because the font on the web site is so small.

Don't you use CTRL-+ to increase screen size, (windows- dont know what the linux versions use, or are their some other keys to render font sizes different in web browsers?

Best not to muck about with secure pages, easier to get the magnifying glass out. Of course I know about font sizes, how do you think I manage the site?

If you're using Firefox CTRL+ will just make the page bigger, it won't affect anything "secure"...

Mark's very good for overnight security - and he's willing to give us a let up with what needs doing.
five or six people and eight hours later, and all our gear is back in storage; nice and tidy and well sorted out. A good end to a good series of events!
Tent is all ready to go tomorrow (but that's up to the marquee people).

You're right of course Kev but I always err on the safe side! I did good with the magnifying glass, the tobacco will be delivered today....
I might pop into Bontoft's and enquire about my specs... They are very close now!

I am winning the battle with clearing the house of un-wanted and un-needed items. Visitors on the weekend arrived with a trailer and we happily waved off a ten piece outdoor setting. ( a nice thing, but we already have one and previous owners left it here). Also several boxes of other unwanted objects made it into the back of cars...and step-son left with a painting under each arm (thank goodness...as I hated them!).
My 5th trip to the charity shop this morning with things they didn't want.
Every time I drop a load of stuff to the lovely volunteers at the charity shop, I come away feeling lighter. It is very therapeutic indeed.
So...on track with my mission to "live simply".
(I have discovered it is best NOT to ask Febby if he wants to keep a particular object. His reply is always that we should hang on to it "in case we need it one day". Recently I pointed to the blender (useless object) and suggest we give it to someone who might use it, and now I can't actually get rid of it because he will notice that we owned one in the first place. if I had of kept my mouth shut and got rid of it, he would never have known!)

Practical psychology applied. I can't comment really, I am good at giving/throwing things away but also good at hanging on just in case!

We too are having a clear out. Having come back from France where where THINGS are minimal, I have an urge to gave a clear out here. All helped by grand daughter Eve doing a school history project about schools over the last 100 years. Out are coming the girls old school books, school photos and loads of other boxes. Family treasures will remain here.
