I suppose it was cheaper to make two cards and they always had the chance of you signing on again!
(Marketing people are monkeys when it comes to cunning wheezes!)

Something I hadnt noticed but was flagged up in the Recent BBC interview with Lord Sugar was that Members of The House of Lords basically have to pay full whack of UK tax on their taxable income - no non-dom or other preferrential rates from the date of their elevation.

This actually is quite a clever wheeze on behalf of crown normally got around by transferring all your income generating assets to your spouse. I suppose it could by legislation be extended to any buisesses entity the Lord has a controlling interest of which might make things more interesting on tax avoidence by some corporations

It struck me this morning that Trump thinks his actions on tariffs is a cunning wheeze but in the end it will come back to bite him.
Such a pity he and his advisors are ignorant of the historical evidence on the advantages of free trade. Look back to the huge political debates at the end of the 19th century...... See THIS Wikipedia article for a useful overview....
