Moh, stove fired all day, if you don't get a bit of heat in the house tends to get damp. Showery day yesterday and this morning the glass is steady on 28.7". The weather forecast gave the average pressure reading for UK under this massive low and my barometer was near enough spot on. Damp flags this morning and prospect of another showery day. Chilly for the time of the year, stove is still hot from yesterday and will be fired up again shortly!

Hosepipe ban day is turning into St Swithins , dont think there has been a day without some rain since Thames announced the ban areas.
Low to the right of Norfolk today I understand bringing rain all day to norwich , but will be brighter tomorrow , looks good (acceptable) for the growing season.

Shame they are saying it will do not good as the ground is too hard to absorb it. Looks like a repeat of yesterday here. Our glass is same Stanley.

" looks good (acceptable) for the growing season"
A farmer on local TV here who last month was saying his farm was a dustbowl, is now complaining that it is too wet to plant his seed potatoes. He actually said (tongue in cheek I think / hope ) that he would like it to rain all night, and be dry during the day. They're never happy are they? I'm on Cambridge Water, and miraculously they don't have a hosepipe ban, but I don't need to use it anyway, as my little pond has filled up naturally in the last few days.

Moh, your glass has always been accurate. If you remember I had to adjust mine to get in line with you.
Aquifers and ground water sources like springs react slowly to rainfall. The governing factor is annual rainfall not a few day's worth.
Glass rising slowly as the low moves eastwards, Just a shade below 29" this morning. It was raining steadily late evening but flags are dry this morning. More of the same I think. Miracle is that we haven't had a big wind for a while.

Yesterday was pure April, everything from bright sun to cold nasty hail showers. Glass steady on 29", dry at the moment with broken cloud. Who knows what the day will bring....
07:00. Back from our early morning walk and though it's dull, it's dry and an improvement on the shbowers yesterday. The outlook is very similar today though, we shall have to dodge the showers at dinnertime!

Raining at the moment and glass is slightly up at 29.2". Forecast is for wind and heavy rain coming in. Still cold.

Sunny here in Somerset but showers passing through - pretty much what it's been for a week and will be this coming week.

Same here Moh. Really siling down at times, just like the milk running out of a sile in the dairy, drops close together and falling straight down. It's abated at the moment so Jack and I are off for a quick walk!

Calm misty morning. Glass steady on 29.2". From the sound of the forecast we are escaping winds in the North and the SW. Tiz will get the cobwebs blown off him!

Up early this morning and we have a calm, dry morning with an almost clear sky. Not all that cold. No sign of the heavy rain that was forecast as yet. Glass has risen slightly to just over 29.2". Perhaps we will get a surprise but it looks like yesterday, a very acceptable late April day with few showers. Things could be worse!

It was a beautiful late April day in Barlick yesterday, no complaints at all! Glass has fallen back slightly this morning to just over 29". It's dry and cool, more overcast than yesterday and a spatter of light rain coming on on a much stronger wind. (Just looked outside and we are having a heavy shower). From the forecast there is a lot of wind and showers about in the south, perhaps we are being lucky again. Or is this the start of the heavy rain that we were promised. Longer range forecast is for showery conditions to continue for at least a week. What we need is a rise in temperature to go with them!

Back from our morning walk and it's wet, cold and windy. The wind is out of the east, generally a dry quarter but not today. Looks as though it has set in.....

Stanley you are an inspiration out walking everyday. Yesterday in Brittany it was beautiful and we sat outside reading in shorts and tee shirts. Today is a different matter we have high winds and heavy rain. No sign of drought here Eileen

Eileen, I don't know about that. If I don't walk I have a stroppy dog and seized up legs!
We managed to dodge the showers yesterday but there was a lot of rain. Glass has fallen to 28.9" and the wind has dropped. This means that any showers will be slow moving, yesterday the east wind carried them through but today any rain will hang about as we are in the middle of the depression. Hope held out that the weekend will be slightly less wet.

It's been wet! Some breaks but a lot of steady rain. It's not raining at the moment but I suspect it won't be long before it starts again. The glass has jumped up to 29.5" so I expect a bit more breeze today as we get nearer the edge of the depression.

It was very windy in the flatlands yesterday, driving the rain rather. There is a slightly sloping road between two fields locally and the rain has been pulling the sand out of the soil and sending it down the slope along with any smaller flints that the rivulet can pick up. Driving down that road is treacherous at the moment, even if you are only driving on the wet sand.

Dry cold and clear first thing with a breeze from the east blowing the occasional cloud over. Nice day yesterday and it's bright this morning, looks as though we could have the same again. Glass has almost reached 30". More rain forecast in the South and of course the news is full of the inevitable whinges about a drought warning while there is local flooding. They don't get it do they. It will take months of rain like this to restore the ground waters and aquifers.

Cold wind and keeps spitting, have put washing out but will probably have to bring it in again soon.
