Roast chicken dinner followed by home made rhubarb pie and creme anglaise (not as good as custard but all we can get over here. We have bought some Bretton bread never had it before as it never appealed but it's delicious. Left over chicken tonight so either curry or pasta salad followed by the rest of the rhubarb pie Eileen

A butty day yesterday. Small piece of pork belly slow-cooked all night and just finishing off under the grill. There will be butties.....

We had bacon butties yesterday (whoops cholesterol through the roof no doubt) didn't use butter on my butty though. Not christened today's food yet but like you Stanley we always have a butty of some description. Eileen

Fried tomato and bacon butty for tea. Eileen, blood cholesterol is nothing to do with ingested cholesterol, more a product of the balance between long chain Omega-3 and saturated fat intake and the amount of exercise you take. Nowt wrong with the Big 'C' if you burn it off. The industrial Revolution was built on cholesterol! (And why do you think God puts it in Mother's Milk if it's bad for us....)

That's the way Eileen. Did you know that walking burns fat more efficiently than running?
Tea last night was pie and peas. I got some shin beef and a pigs trotter for gelatine, I shall make some stew today as in stew and hard. Goof butty filling.... A terrine?

A great burger and chips, definitely home made variety (although we ate out) just before going to see Ian Lavender and Rick Wakeman at the Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds. A great evening had by all.

I hope this link takes you to a clip of Ian Lavender following Rick Wakeman on celebrity mastermind.

Comrade, that's why I love my roast stews in cooler weather. The veg taste so much better when they are roasted with the meat. Had basmati rice and a chunk of the stew melted into it for tea. Very nice indeed. I shall save what is left for tea tonight.

I got two thin slices of very well hung rump steak off Stewart yesterday. Casseroled them in wine with onions and when done I fished them out and used them for butty filling. Lovely! The gravy and onions went in a pan and got carrots, peas and new potatoes chucked in with them. Result is a fine, rich veggie soup which will keep me going for a meal or two. High living!

That brings back memories. My Grandma made the best rhubarb pies ever, twelve inches long and only one inch wide.

Funnily enough, we can't get rhubarb in southern China. Is it only grown in cold climates?
We don't get beetroot either and I love it.

You don't know how lucky you are in Barlick.

Poor lad, life without rhubarb and beetroot!
Bowl of veggies soup and the second slice of rump steak on a butty for tea..... Things could be worse.

Finished the casserole and rice. I have to be honest, warming but not one of my best efforts, too much salt and spices! I fancy old fashioned stewed mince with carrots today after watching Hairy Bikers last night.... It's butcher's day, I shall pinch some of Jack's mince!
