Tardis i love your Cornwall photo, reminds me of that very popular photo of the lighthouse that was being battered my high waves that you can buy in poster-form these days. Wow!

The comment about battered lighthouses between impending wedding anniversaries. Is this a Freudian slip? or just co-incidence.

Battered lighthouses sounds more like something Stanley would have for his tea. Could we have an image of a train entering a tunnel....?

The heat attracted my attention today. Popped out to walk to the post box ( 10 mins each way) and was like a wet rag by the time I got back about 9am.
Passed a group of "oldies" on the green, playing Cricket. ( mad fools)

We do not have a single day forecast for under 40 degreesC the whole week...
Well that is me done for the week. Time to draw the blinds and find something quiet to do. Maybe a cold bath later.

When Mrs Tiz was a schoolchild she got into trouble in the Scripture lesson for bursting into laughter when the teacher said "Paul was stripped and battered".

Today I turn 60 and according to the government I am a senior citizen. It must be true because they sent me a senior citizens card with my name on it! I shall make every attempt to make use of the discounts it gives me!

Happy 60th!
My hubby has one of those senior's cards ( I am not eligible) - he uses it a lot...gets discount at the barbers and the bakery and the coffee shop etc. it all adds up. He only works two days a week and retires in six months, so he is chuffed he can save a few bucks here and there. It didn't just turn up in the mail though, he had to apply for it once he had fallen below the threshold of maximum work hours allowed per week ( is it 20 hours? I can't remember...)
I'm not due one for six years yet....and any thoughts of a pension are about 13+ years away yet...groan...

Two big celebrations in the one week for you then!

I get everything over and done with in the space of 3 weeks; Christmas, New Year, anniversary and birthday. Had a lovely party last night with the kids, partners and grand kids - and lots of champagne again.

I must admit I did apply for the card. The number of working hours is less than 35 hours per week. I gave up work a few years ago when I suffered a prolapsed disc. I was lucky that I could. Dennis only works 3 days a week and he also has a card. I used it today and got a discount off my new specs!

Finished the evaporated milk this morning, I considered porridge but used it in my coffee.
How everything brightened up when I got the readers, not just the vision but the fact that I sorted the distance glasses out as well and paid up fully. All I have to do now is wait a fortnight..... It also helped that the staff appreciated my position with the spat the day before. Evidently he is known for his ability to parrot the script they have imprinted on him. Even they find it a bit wearing. Luckily he had a day off yesterday....

Don't overdo it Liz.
I almost wiped myself out popping out to get three T-towels off the line....stiff as a board they were!
I made Salad for dinner, then had a good lie down to get over the effort.
Dress of choice today is knickers and crop top. Will drag myself off the bed (air-conditioner vent directly above), comb my hair and drag a T-shirt/shorts on when I hear hubby's car in the drive...and not a moment earlier!

(Yesterday) the launch of Barnoldswick's business security package.

Local traders, area committee, community safety partnership, town council and police have all come together to combat burglaries and business thefts in Barnoldswick. This follows the spate of burglaries that we had last year.

We launched the scheme with a picture opportunity on the Town Square yesterday. We also had a BBC film crew filming the photographers taking the photos (for a TV piece on the burglaries). Then we had a video camera from the Barlick and Earby filming the film crew filming the photographers...

Here's PC Matt Lunney being interviewed by TV presenter Dan.
