Getting my readers.... That'll be interesting! I'm not looking for perfection, just the ability to read Private Eye!

Heading out for a long walk shortly.
We walked the local river yesterday, so today may be the beach.
Spent the morning doing boring old housework...

Gardening. Plasterer finishing off doing the walls and ceilings. Nice job! Looks good. Joiner not turned up for two days so our main bathroom is non functional as he had disconnected toiled and washbasin ! NOT IMPRESSED. Thank goodness for the ensuite, but then if we hadn't got the ensuite we wouldn't have had the flood, catch 22 I think.

Sue, it will be such a relief for you when you get the job finished! Best of luck with the contractors....
I might write an article today but the main thing on my mind is the insidious way I have become semi-addicted to You-tube! I have had to take drasic measures! I have put all the 'to read' books back on the shelf with the exception of 'A House for Mr Biswas' as recommended by Uncle Bob. I've come to the conclusion that videos are addictive and that my eyes will improve faster if I am forcing them to work together reading with the new glasses. It's not easy and I have to concentrate but that in itself is good for me I think.

I now have a new set of wall mounted hooks and a wall mounted drying/airing rack in the laundry...have not tested said items yet but he assures me they will not fall off the wall when I hang stuff on them.
Also new taps in the shower...which he will use/test first in the morning... :laugh5:

All tools put away now, so I can relax.
He has a couple of nasty bruises, but didn't bleed all over the house like he has done in the past.

You'll love it. I have something similar in my laundry. It's fantastic; I hang all my washing in there with the overflow on a clothes horse and we have never put up an outside clothes line here. I got sick of re-washing due to all the birds at our previous house.

Good news about the lack of blood this time.

I like drying bedding outside but all clothes go straight on to the rack. Never fails! Never gets bird muck, soot or rain on it.

Had a lovely clothesline in full sun at our last home and used it all the time, but I feel the clothesline is badly situated in our new home. It is down the narrow, shady side of the house and gets about an hour's morning sun only. It could be a seasonal thing that small flying bugs tend to land on the washing as soon as the sun passes off it. I have to give everything a good shake before I bring it in. Very annoying. I have been harping about relocating the line to the sunny side of the house, but that is the side we recently moved the fence a few inches, and until that passes inspection, we are reluctant to cement the clothes line in.
It will happen. Must be patient.
In the meantime, I shall make do. The internal one will help, especially in winter.
( we are slightly restricted because we live in an area where washing cannot be on show)

Are they your "smalls", Stanley?! :freak:

I have an airing rack in France. So useful in the winter and when we are coming home. I can wash up to the last minute and put the washing on the airer to dry for our return. We also have one in our cottage on Anglesey.

Lady Harriet Nelson at Gledstone used to be very hot on washing being outside on view in West Marton when it was owned by the Gledstone Estate..... I like to see washing out on lines!

Had a longer walk than expected today...followed the river down and found a small bridge, which we crossed. Then it was a matter of turning back upstream to find another one to cross back over toward home. It began to rain quite hard and we got soaked, but we finally found a bridge back across...( phew!)...after walking over soggy farmland.
Had a slightly grumpy husband by the time we got home, soggy clothes hanging from us, especially as I made him partially strip at the front door and remove his muddy shoes. We stripped the remaining clothes in the kitchen and that new dryer rack is now in use.
I found the walk most enjoyable, though I was starting to panic that we wouldn't find that elusive bridge in the thick scrub and would have to turn back...
...of course, I didn't convey my slight panic to Hubby...best to remain positive and jolly...or it sends him into "decline" :laugh5:

I thought there was something wrong. This afternoon we are going to a neighbours funeral. She had a stroke during the night just after her husband had gone to hospital in an ambulance. So sad, no one else in the house to raise the alarm.
