Never come across that one Tiz, plenty of CW (Continuous Wave, mode used for Morse) QSO's (contacts) across the pond between Europe and the USA. Morse is the common denominator.

Wendy, if I have to think about going to sleep (which is very unusual) in my head I climb into the wagon and set off for Scotland. I don't usually get far beyond Settle....

I do the journey from where we used to live near West Calder up to Ardnamurchan, but not being able to remember the route we took across to the M9 gets me stressed! Sometimes just sitting on the beach picking up cowrie shells does the trick.....

If you have long legs and have trouble with your tights working their way down wear a pair of French Knickers on top of them. This often cures the problem.

Or better still, ditch the tights and wear proper stockings with the correct support mechanism. :extrawink:

Or...just leave the decision of how to wear ones tights up to the women wot wear 'em!

I thought Stanley was speaking from personal experience?

You don't have the problem if you wear them under jeans. Quite good for colder mornings when out fishing. I once made the mistake of wearing full thermals on a winter league fishing contest. It was very cold first thing and I was glad of them, two hours later when the sun came out and there was no way of getting out of it I thought I was going to explode. :surprised: :laugh5:

When I was a cashed strapped student nurse, pantyhose were frequently snagged on patient's beds or equipment. I would cut the affected leg off the pantyhose and still wear the good leg, matched with another pair I had snipped the opposite leg off. It meant wearing two pantyhose tops, each with a leg each. ( I did mention I was cash strapped!)
Got a few more wears out of them...money not growing on trees back then.
Can't remember when I last wore pantyhose. Over 20 years ago I would say. Nice to see female nurses wearing sensible long pants now. And thank heavens those dreadful caps and veils have been ditched too. Ridiculous things they were.

I haven't worn pantyhose for about 30yrs, I'm very much a pants/trousers girl. It could very well be different in cooler climes, but here where it's much warmer, I don't think it's healthy for a female to wear them. Same with too tight jeans.

I hated wearing them. Shoes and stockings were ripped off as soon as I got home. Then one could relax. I probably had 40+ pairs of Pantyhose ( though quite a few only had the one leg) :laugh5:

I once talked to a coalman at Causeway Foot on the way to Halifax. He had a house full of daughters and hated it when panty hose became the fashion. He said that with stockings, one getting laddered was no problem, you matched it with another the same shade. Tights changed all that so he made them cut one bad leg of and wear two one legged pairs at once. One had to wonder about the incidence of Thrush.....
China wonders about my experience. If you lived in a house with 4 women you got plenty of experience! I was noted for my insistence on cotton gussets!

No need for cotton gussets when you wear cotton knickers underneath your pantyhose.

Maz, that's a cotton gusset! I was referring to any intimate garment in contact, the best knickers made of synthetic materials always have cotton gussets.

:laugh5: well...you could pay more for pantyhose "with a cotton gusset". I never understood why you would want one over your cotton gusset "smalls".
Mind you, I admit to living a great deal of my life totally clueless...
( I put it down to poor parenting and no instruction from older sisters)

You don't have any of the above problems with stockings and loose fitting French knickers, got to be more healthy.

Goodness this is getting complicated.
100% cotton knickers ... Tick.

Ian , do your (the, haha), I presume silky French nickers have sewn-in cotton gussets, and are they worn next to the body or over the panty-hose and do they have a cotton gusset or not?

:laugh5:

Not worn with tights Cathy and I would assume that knickers always come first with those if you are to be all enclosed so to speak. The whole point of stockings is that you can wear whatever knickers you want.

Ah, stockings, yes all good as long as they are the ones that stay-up by themselves. Definitely not the ones that need suspender belts and clips that dig in to the legs.
Definitely wouldn't go back to them...

When we were regularly 1930's 40's retro dressing and dancing. I bought Sally an 8 point (4 each leg) suspender belt, 2 per leg are useless. 4 give proper support for the stockings and tend not to dig even with vigorous exercise on the dance floor. The looser French knickers I am told were also welcome ventilation. 200 folk on the dance floor at once at the bigger events can get a bit warm.

I think we are getting into a totally different area now.
And ...as much as our male members may find it attractive...this is not something I want to explore.
