Thanks Ian, I am getting fairly conversant with it now but still learning. Still haven't accessed one bloody programme with it though.... :laugh5:
I watched Andrew on C4 last night after having managed to retrieve that after updating TV. I think it was David who watched it and said he was finished. I have to agree. I found much in the story that angers me, all about undeserved privilege....

And that's 'Good TV' ? I see God says Charles III should be king. What's good enough for God should be good enough for you. :biggrin2:

Is there a particular programme you have in mind?

No Kev, I'd just like to get access to all of them in case I want them but many of them say the download isn't available. Don't worry about it, I have spent money on dud projects before and survived.
I'm more interested in getting a battery into my motherboard.

Strange. Do none of the pre installed 'channels' not work either? Mine had BBC iplayer, YouTube, All4 and My5 already installed, I just had to install ITVX. Opening any one of them gives me the 'menu' of available programmes.
I had forgotten about your MB battery, I'll try and remember to bring one the next time I'm in Barlick.

One thing, don't you still have the majority of these on your satellite box? I know my Humax still has BBC iplayer, YouTube, and My5, It also has Netflix. and a few others. I have More4 and itvX on my phone and I have just downloaded Pluto TV. All the phone ones I can cast straight to the TV, I have a chrome-cast adaptor plugged into the TV.

I do indeed, the Firestick is used for ITVX and All4, I also have a Prime account and access to Disney+

Can you let me have an example of one that shows as 'download not available'. There will be a simple explanation and resolution.
Also, could you indulge me. Press the Alexa button and say 'open YouTube' and let me know what happens please?

Later.... Youtube opened with Alexa and invited me to register. I didn't because I am already registered on the Smart TV apps.
I asked Alexa to open My5, ITVx and UKTV play all reported that they were unavailable.

That's promising, sounds like they just need installing. An obvious question, the Firestick is logged into your wifi isn't it?

I haven't the faintest idea of what your question means...... :biggrin2:

The Firestick has to be connected to your router via WiFi. You could check by logging into your router and looking for connected devices. Unless there is an easier way to check via the Firestick. I will leave Kev to answer that one.

When you first set it up did it prompt you to log onto your internet? Going off the behaviour of the Firestick I suspect it's not which will be why you can't access anything. This is how it should look when you try to open a 'channel' that's not installed

On the top of the home screen, far right, there's a cog icon. Using the right side of the ring, that's in the centre of the remote, scroll across to the cog (it'll highlight on the screen as you move across). It will then open up and show a number of icons below, using the 'ring' navigate to the network icon and press the button in the centre of the ring. This will show you if if has an internet connection.

Stanley wrote: 07 May 2023, 14:37 I have installed the device, registered it and got it going but I still don't know how to control it properly. I have found out that it's a different source and I can change that but beyond that I am a bit overwhelmed. Onwards and upwards!
After reading this again I'm presuming it must have been connected to your wifi at that time or you wouldn't have been able to register it to your Amazon account. The connection could have potentially dropped but the device should automatically reconnect, I shall await further information regarding the outcome of the network connection check :good:

I've just turned the Eurovision Song Contest on and caught the last number which handily was the UK entry.

You wouldn't want to hear what I thought of it.

I think we've gone as far as we need with frenzied special electronic effects. It was like looking down a kaleidoscope most of the time.

I usually enjoy the voting though, which is starting now.

Kev, I know you have the best intentions but all this questioning and technical matters does nothing but frustrate me. I shall get my grand nephew(?) Muthomi to pop over and sit down with the Firestick and me. That's the only thing that will make any sense to me.
I am not deprived, I watched an episode of Midsomer Murders last night...... On live ITV on the Freesat of course.

I read that the second series, based on the final book "The Mirror and the Light" is in production.

Not good TV.....
Last night I watched two episodes of Steeltown Murders on iPlayer. Boring and I shan't be watching any more but I noticed something strange. The sound was very bad, I'd describe it as muffled and there was a strange commentary describing what was on the screen. I came to the conclusion that this had been added to the recording as a way of compensating for the bad sound quality. I have never come across this before.
