I agree entirely, kids get far too much these days. I too stayed at home with my kids until they went to school, which meant that they did without things simply because we couldn't afford them. Not so with my granddaughters. When there is a birthday or Christmas they never look at the present, simply open it, put it aside and look for the next. It takes all the fun out of trying to find something for them - there's never a reaction.

On the other hand my Grandson is made to wait for special things. He rang me other day and told me that he had seen the lego kit he wanted and it was on special. Did I think I could get it for him for Christmas please? Of course I did, but it's put away for him.

Back on track; today I shall be making a gift for my friend who has finally finished her chemo and radio therapy and is starting to feel a bit better (it all started in January). We are all going away in our caravans the week after next so I wanted to make her something nice to celebrate.

Lovely posts...
Up early of course this morning according to the clock but after 6 hours sleep according to my body. Jack walk can be a bit earlier for a couple of weeks and so I should get in the shed earlier...

Today I gave pulled a muscle in my back on the left side just above my waist. I had had a lovely leisurely bath as I do on a Sunday morning. Then I stood up to wash my hair in the shower and found I couldn't straighten up. It hurts to breathe, and raise my left hand. I had to eat my cooked breakfast(well it is Sunday) American style. Cut my food then place my knife on one side and put my fork in my right hand to get the food to my mouth. I couldn't even lean forward to the table and had to be padded behind with cushions. So much for my days sewing!

Ah...you poor thing. Hope it is short lived. ( though such things tend to be even more sore on the second day)
Doesn't sound as though you will get any sewing done.

On our recent holiday in Cornwall we walked on an almost empty beautiful beach in the sunshine and passed a couple sitting on the sand with their two kids by them. How lovely...except that both parents were staring at their smartphones all the time we could see them and completely ignoring the kids and the wonderful scenery.

Sue, isn't it annoying how you can get the most painful strains and injuries while doing something perfectly normal. I once loaded a carry cot with a very heavy baby into the back seat of the Fulvia and had nine months of pain in my shoulder as a reward! On another occasion I did much the same thing by drying my hair to vigorously... It's not fair and I hope it wears off soon.

I have been up on the kitchen roof with a deck scrubber, amazing how much green slime and bird poop there was after only a year.

When I got my mates in to replace the defective ridge tiles on the roof they cleaned the gutters at the same time. Part of my problem was that Dennis' gutters next door (downhill) were full of crap and the water was backing up into mine. They persuaded him to have his cleaned while they were up there but poor Dennis died before he got the benefit. Funny thing life......
My last outdoor activity was power washing the back yard, what an improvement!
Today is shed..... What a good job I had a second string to my bow when it became impossible for me to read for pleasure! I am very lucky....

Colne library this morning, though it would be a good morning to spend outside.
The ponies spent the night inside for the first time since April, not only because the firework season is fast approaching but because the little one is getting too fat...there is so much grass out there. When I put them back out this morning they went wild with delight, galloping round the field, leaping in the air and bucking....as if they hadn't seen grass for weeks! They are very old, perhaps they are suffering from short term memory loss.

Old or not they were definitely enjoying themselves! It must give you such a buzz seeing them reacting like that, I know it would do it for me. Both they and you deserve it.....

No! at this time of year I'm screaming at them to stop! The field is already soaking wet, and they make a muddy mess. :laugh5:

Monthly bookkeeping task today, it helps to keep my brain ticking over.

Manchester today for dental hospital appointment. As it's half term, suggested family came along for city visit; doesn't seem a great deal of enthusiasm...

That's lads all over for you Wendy.....
David, can't understand why a hilarious trip like a dental appointment in Manchester in November weather isn't enthusing them!
Today will be usual Friday tasks and then into the shed!

So you all had therapy, but theirs was retail.... Expensive day out?
Two words... carriage stop! Or rather stops as Mick has asked me to make one for him as well because his lathe is almost the twin to mine.

Alison is main bread winner in our household... and she does the books; no business of mine what happens to the brass!

Off to Whitby today with Peter Thompson in support of town council chairman Claire Teall where she's representing Barlick at the Rohilla commemorative event. Claire is related by marriage to a Rohilla survivor.

Going to the surgery at 10:20 for an appointment with Dracula. I have remembered to pee in my little bottle and will take the usual precautions to ensure I remember to go!

They worked perfectly thank you. The cream filled chocolate éclair I gave Dracula helped as well. She was delighted to get something a bit more exciting than a bottle of pee. She suggested I take on in for the Diabetes Nurse next Monday.....
Today I shall be in the shed attacking my carriage stops.... With great care and frequent re-checking!

In the shed. I can't tell you how pleased I am to have got my mojo back due to my mates nagging me and I don't miss reading for pleasure at all. And I am more mobile... It wouldn't surprise me if this shows up in my recent blood test....

Possibly not, the hba1c test indicates your blood glucose levels for the previous two to three months...
