So that's today's tip, always do that each month as sometimes this is the only indication you get that something amiss has occurred. Like the time someone started raiding my account for gambling debts. I alerted the bank and they stopped it and refunded all my money with no argument. One got the impression that this was an everyday occurrence for them.
I have no evidence but got the feeling that this could be internal fraud.

Some people don't even look at their bank or credit card statements.

We have ditched paper statements in favour of online where you can see all transactions whenever you want, no need to wait for a month.

Ah yes but as you know Ian I am a dinosaur, the envelopes arriving once a month are my automatic reminder to check and I have a permanent record that doesn't rely on electronics.

Just another small step in helping to reduce our carbon footprint. On the animal front, both of our moggies have recently had their monthly neck dab. We have to get two different brands as Millie has an aversion to the one that Primrose has. £70 odd for the potions for both of them, will see the summer out though

Certainly! Jack has had his and is doing less scratching. I don't think he had fleas but something was irritating him.
Today's tip. If you are able to, take it easy, it isn't a sin to do nothing but sit quiet and think. Very good for you. I think they call it mindfulness these days. The wheel has been reinvented again.

This tip may seem obvious to our Australian friends - wear a hat when you're out in the sun, especially if you're fair-haired and fair-skinned like me. I've already needed treatment for several skin lesions due to too much sun exposure in my earlier years. I don't see many hats being worn when I'm out and about. Lots of men go about in the sun with bald heads or extremely short hair. I wonder if they grease their heads with high factor sun cream every time they go out in the sun?

Actually Tize in my neck of the woods I don't see many people wearing hats either. It just struck me to say that when people are driving to be very aware of the sun coming thru the windows. A lot of damage can be done to the face, neck, arms and back of hands.
As soon as you feel for eg your arms are too hot and burning, the damage is being done.

I always wear a hat when I go for a walk in the sun, or do gardening. I have three hats. One is the outback type hat, and another is a sun hat and the other is a soft wide brimmed had that is forgiving if I squash it in a suitcase.
I'm always reminding hubby to put his hat on whilst mowing the lawns etc.
I wear sunglasses too ( cancer council approved).
Hubby hates all three of my hats.

I too always wear a hat and always have. If it is a muggy dull day I might go without just to feel the breeze on my head. (Yes, I know the UV is still coming through....)

When the first ozone hole opened in the southern hemisphere 30 years ago I was in New Zealand and was we were all warned to use sun cream and wear hats. I got my arm burnt in 10 minutes exposure on a ferry in Auckland. I was under cover but hadn't noticed a shaft of sunlight was getting through and caught my arm. The ozone hole is opening again due to illicit use of CFCs in Asia and there have been indications of a thinning in the northern hemisphere too.

Today's tip. Give someone an unexpected small present. I used my shepherd whistle on Pepe, Catherine's lurcher, yesterday and he responded immediately. I told her she should get a whistle. I remembered I had two or three in my drawer so I have popped one in my pocket. Next time I see her I'll make her a happy woman.

Give her the whistle too!

You're right actually, she always enjoys meeting me and Jack and Pepe the Lurcher goes crackers, you should see him doing circuits flat out to impress Jack! The Acme whistle is in my trouser pocket and will change hands the next time we meet.

Look at some of the modern plastic doors and you will see that quite a lot of them don't have any numbers on them, neither is there any indication of numbers on gates or walls. How the postie manages to deliver any mail at all is a miracle.

I agree P and another thing that baffled me was why anybody thought it was a good thing to put letter boxes at the bottom of doors.... All the posties I have ever asked hate them.

We live in a long cul de sac with several smaller cul de sacs coming of it, so it's a mass of T-junctions which makes for confusion. The numbering isn't logical and resulted in cars and vans driving around with the drivers trying to find their destinations. We put up a big slab of delabole slate with our house number and street name on it and that means people can find us easily now. But not everyone makes it easy for the visitor.

I must agree - I hate them too (being 6ft 3ins tall...!)

If you feel well, ignore rogue higher BP readings, they are quite natural occasionally. Just be watchful and keep an eye on them.

Hubby phoned an old mate today, who, since turning 70, has become hyper-vigilant about every aspect of health. I felt sad listening to the call. This is not the person we know. I am sad that at 70, he has turned down the road of "health messages", which is obviously detracting from his previous enjoyment of life. For heaven's sake...none of us will last a day more than we are meant to ( including your own doctor) but don't stress about getting older.
