Re: GOOD TV
I just watched a few minutes of a show called 'Glastonbury'.
The 'turn' was an old has been who used to be Cat Stevens a long time ago. Now known as Yusuf Islam. Pretty low impact I'd say. He sings quietly and perhaps was a bit out of tune? I didn't catch the words - perhaps they were deeply profound. Let's hope so.
It was in the open air and the crowd was in the millions - all standing up. Good job it wasn't raining.
Looks jolly uncomfortable and a bit boring if truth be told. They seem to be enjoying themselves though. Do they pay people to attend?
Have they not got Spotify?
I hear that chap called Elton is on next - top of the bill. Is he any good?

Re: GOOD TV
I tripped over some of it in the late afternoon David and reflected what a quaint breed the British race is. In Saudi Arabia at the moment religion is drawing masses of people together. Here, it seems to be ageing (or at least, very well established entertainers) who draw the crowds. Sorry to be a killjoy but include me out!
(I remember the kids being avid fans of Cat Stevens when they were young. That is a long time ago!)

Re: GOOD TV
I enjoyed watching Cat Stevens and loved listening to his old music, it brought back some teenage memories. I even managed to find his first LP in the lower, dustier region of the bookcase! I would have been 16 when I bought it in early 1967.

I have just registered free as our Jacks "extra" member. I assume his subscription will go up a bit. When you complete the registration it lets you keep any existing profile and saved lists etc. You can use it on any of the devices you select at registration but only one device at a time. Thanks Jack.

Re: GOOD TV
I went on the TV to check, well the Humax box actually as that is what's connected to the internet and vends Netflix. It now asks to set up the account, I go in and it only offers me Jacks details. The confirmation of registration email as an extra user on the account tells me to log in with my email address and the password I set up. First look I cant see a way of changing the email address!
During set up it asked for all the devices that I may use the service on TV was already selected, I added, computer, phone, (cos I can cast) and a streaming device as that is what the Humax box is. It stated that you could only use one of these at once which is how we always use it.
I can log in on the computer without a problem and I did sign out correctly so it should work elsewhere.

Re: GOOD TV
I sorted Netflix when I had another look at the rabbit. When you go in and it asks for the password it defaults to that field. The username was already populated with Jacks email address. I initially couldn't see a way of changing this then I noticed a "previous" button was lit up. Selecting this allowed me to use backspace to delete and change the email address, "next" put me back in the password box and bobs your uncle. It ticked over for a bit then offered me my existing profile which I selected. It then lights up with all my preferences. Each time I go in now it goes straight in without having to select a profile as I am the only extra user on our system.

3 new episodes of Time Team on YouTube over this weekend. I've seen the first one (because I'm a Patreon member) and can highly recommend it.

Re: GOOD TV
I watched all three episodes of Time Team Wendy and enjoyed them.
I am going to watch Silverstone F1 GP but suspect I shall not like it. I have no enthusiasm at all for Verstappen, I dislike him. It will be interesting to see if any of the magic remains.

Re: GOOD TV
I watched the GP and reminded myself what it was that I dislike so much about modern motor racing. It's the relentless shouting of the commentator telling you the bleeding obvious and what you should be excited about. Include me out.....

Re: GOOD TV
I just block him out and listen to David Coulthard and Billy Monger, though yesterday my son joined me for the occasion and shouted over all of them.
It's good to see Maclaren doing well again, Norris is good!

Re: GOOD TV
I agree with Wendy, block it out, or turn it down, and I like Norris as well.

Re: GOOD TV
Watched the men’s Wimbledon final yesterday, what a good match, it could easily have gone either way, it certainly kept the attention, none of it was boring.

Re: GOOD TV
Agreed Gloria, proper final, right down to the last four points. Bound to happen eventually, sixteen year difference in age. The commentators noticed the difference when Novak was starting to make errors, just turned twenty year old Carlos was just getting into his stride.
I also thought that Novak was doing a bit too much complaining, towels too far away, wind etc and the sanctioned paddy episode when he broke his racket was not really called for. The delay tactic on his first and second serves was tiresome as well. I agree with the commentators, the umpire should enforce the serve timer as necessary and also on second serve.
Just for the record and back in the days when TV's used to break down, the latter was not allowed to happen during Wimbledon fortnight.

Re: GOOD TV
I agree. I missed part one, but watched last night. I already knew something of the 'story' because of course it was a dramatisation of something that really happened, and not the subject of the tortured imagination of a drama writer.

Michael Crick wrote about it recently and here's the Manchester Evening news item from the time (2018).Peter Farquhar
