I was maybe a bit harsh with my expectations of Evri. Here it is as if by magic delivered today at 14.30



The Oscilloscope unit is about the size of a mobile phone. Plastic cased but it feels relatively robust with a bit of weight. It was well packed and is supplied with a USB charging lead, small tool kit for I know not what? It has two sets of probes, a standard 1:1 with crocodile clips and a high voltage one which I paid a bit extra for on the price, That has a divide by 10 attenuator switch for measuring higher DC voltages and has a spring loaded hook clip at the point which is standard on such leads. The channel inputs are on the top of the unit and are BNC connectors. The instruction book is 50/50 in Chinese and pretty good English so I think I will manage having had experience of Japanese to English translated circuit descriptions when I was fully engaged in electronic repairs.
Quite impressed for the price. Compared to my last scope its about 100 times smaller and lighter with actually more functions. It will do the job without needing a square metre of space on the bench.

The Signal Generator I ordered has been despatched and is currently waiting for a cargo aircraft.

My understanding of what Colin gets up to is limited Ian but he muttered something about getting a UPS to talk to the network.

My jigsaw is battling for space on the dining table with this lot.

It only takes the words 'Command Line Interface to lose me!

For the uninitiated or casual observer. A Command Line Interface is used for text based input to a microprocessor or other computer type device as opposed to using a simplified GUI (Graphical User Interface) or in other words Windows and other fancy front ends or your mobile smart phone of any flavour.

A UPS is a very useful device and is an Uninterruptable Power Supply. Often used for equipment that has to be kept running. Having it network controllable would be a bonus, so, if you can, and have the knowledge and wherewithal why not, a reasonable endeavour in my book.

Colin differs from my skill set in that he would have been one of the white overall wearing guys at college who design circuits for blokes like me to fix when they go wrong. The white overall guys in the next lab to ours at college used to be the ones that put the faults on our practice TV's and other kit in the cupboards. Some would put multiple faults on, all had to be fixed and test card perfect before the afternoon, (4 hour) practical sessions ended at 5pm.

A valiant effort to explain Ian and I thank you for it. I shall stick to altering the size and shape of bits of metal.......
