Braised lamb chops with new potatoes and some freshly picked veg from the polytunnel - carrots, baby turnip & broad beans. As a very rare treat we also had a lovely, creamy, nutmeggy rice pudding served with stewed rhubarb. Bliss.

It'll be the same for me tonight - you know you're getting to your sell by date when your kids bring you a tray of lamb chops for a Father's Day present.

I can think of worse presents! I had a roast pork butty last night and it was so satisfying I couldn't finish it. Saved a quarter for brekkers!

My mother used to do something very similar in the war. I haven't finished the casserole yet, it will do for today as well. Marvellous how far two pork chops and a tin of value tomatoes will go....
I put a piece of pork in the oven on 100C last night at 10pm straight out of the freezer, finished it off with an hour at 150C and it's relaxing in foil as I write. I have a loaf in and there will be pork butties in fresh home-baked bread later. Must get some Bramleys and make some apple sauce, a bit of stuffing to I think made with the de-fatted gravy from the pan the meat was in. I am feeling hungry!

Best pork, apple sauce and stuffing butties in the world! I often think that I should make stuffing and just have that, lovely sandwich filling.

Had a meat pie from the new shop on Newtown. Not impressed, 15p more than Stewart Brown and 20p more than Barlick bites, both are better pies. Filling was too smooth, nearer sausage meat than cooked pork. Used up the last of the stuffing and apple sauce I made for the roast pork and a few baby new potatoes to bulk it up.

As mam would say catch as catch can. Emptying the freezer and fridge now ready for the trip home on Sunday so probably something with minced steak tonight. Eileen
