Bosch Legacy, the TV adaptation of the Michael Connelly books, on the Freevee streaming channel. Titus Welliver plays the title character Harry Bosch, we're enjoying it. Another two episodes next Friday

I retreated into the past again with two episodes of 'Lewis' on Itv3.

I've just watched an episode of Rumpole of the Bailey. In it he was in Germany defending a cavalry trooper at a court martial, on a murder charge. There was snow on the ground for all the external shots, and the layout of barracks seemed familiar. A bit of research revealed it was in fact 'die Britische Kaserne' in Verden, where I lived for two years from 1966 to 1968. Just a little bit spooky?

The credits of this episode, which is set in a British army barracks in Germany, acknowledge "the kind co-operation of The Commanding Officer and All Ranks of First Armoured Division Headquarters and Signal Regiment, and The Army Legal Corps".

My old Regiment. Here's a picture of the entrance -which I'm sure that like me, you will find fascinating.

The Germans were so much better at building barracks than us David. Our barracks at Gatow were palatial compared with most of the British ones......

Having lived in both I don't think I'd agree. The Sandhurst blocks in Catterick were well up to any German one.

I liked this one best though. . . .RAF Tengah, Singapore.
The aircraft taking off next to it were a bit noisy though.

I had the benefit of the Victorian barracks at Lichfield and Colchester David.
Actually, thinking back, the wooden spiders at Colchester were perhaps the warmest and most comfortable.
Has anyone watched any of Shetland? Has it survived the exit of Jimmy?

We watched the first episode of Shetland and plan to watch the second tonight. It was watchable but we aren't gripped yet!

I tried to watch the Abert Hall bunfight last night, but gave up (twice). In an age when few young people know what all the fuss is about - the organisers chose to highlight the almost forgotten Korean War, a Chelsea Pensioner singing solo in Welsh (?), then a 'tribute to the 'Windrush generation' led by a Jamaican airman. It was over woke, cringeworthy, and a sort of a cross between the Olympic Games opening ceremony, and an episode of Britains' got Talent.

Other opinions are available.

I've just bumped into Montserrat Caballe again - on BBC4 . (Don't let me hear a bad word said against the good old BBC ) Remember her from a few weeks ago with Barcelona, and O Mia Babbino Cara? She's the only opera singer I can stand for more than a few minutes. She looks quite different - it's before the donuts got to her. I think you can put me down as a fan.

Bernard Levin is doing the honours. His parents were immigrants from Bessarabia. (Where's that without google?), Remember when he was the 'duty intellectual' on TV for a long time, before Melvin Bragg had been invented? Alzheimers got to him eventually, but he made it to seventy five. Arianna Stassinopoulis (magnificent name ) was his friend. My daft memory reminds me she was once known as 'thunder thighs' - I can't think why.

I seem to remember hearing the nickname 'Thunder Thighs' somewhere else David. Can't think what on earth it could refer to (!) if it's not just a way of saying someone is fat.....
I watched an old episode of Lewis and then a very long Andrew Camarata video on YouTube.

I am struck by the number of YouTube channels that have sprung up all dealing with cooking and coming from Ukraine or Uzbekistan. Including one which is a man and woman doing a direct steal of Wilderness Cooking!

I fell for all the hype surrounding IACGMOOH, and much against my better judgment, watched the opening ten minutes. That was all I could stand. I was right all along. It's nonsense, and I won't make the mistake again.

I read today that Sir Nigel had to eat cooked sheeps udder as one of his challenges. In view of the fact that 'elder' (cooked cow's udder) is (was) regarded as a decent, if admittedly minority, food in Lancashire - I think this offensive, and may constitute borderline racism.

I haven't done it in this case but I know what you mean David. I too have 'given them a chance' in the past and rapidly realised the error of my ways!

If you want to be depressed at the state of modern Britain - especially young people watch "Drugs Map of Britain" currently on BBC 3.

Stop the world etc etc.

I know what you mean David and my answer to angst TV is to ignore it, following politics is bad enough! I shall not be indulging.....

Greatest Guitar Riffs on Sky Arts. It features Tony Iommi, from Black Sabbath in case anyone didn't know. I think it probably had the coolest thing ever in it, Tony and Sir Brian May jamming together. Great stuff.

Antiques Road Trip and Repair Shop followed by Youtube is about the scale of my ambitions these days.....

We are watching Kin on BBC1 and the Iplayer, drama about escalating violence between OCG's in Dublin.

The first four episodes have been good as the plot escalates.

What's an OCG?

I'm guessing that an OCG is an organised crime gang Stanley. Col was watching it last night and I couldn't get out of the room quick enough!
Jeff Healey was a great slide guitar player Kev, I first came across him in the film 'Roadhouse'. I must see if we have Prime at the moment, it comes and goes depending on the offers!
