Three oven bottoms with Mint Sauce, mutton and the last of the Stilton for dinner. Sublime butties! I had the stew for tea and that was good as well. It will get a second re-heat today and will be even better. I shall freeze a couple of helpings.....

I froze three helpings. I had three oven bottoms with mutton and white Stilton with Mangoes and Ginger for dinner followed by two currant scones. Come teatime I wasn't very hungry! So I had a custard and some fruit. This morning I shall make mashed carrots and parsnips with olive oil and nutmeg, no doubt that will figure in today's meals.....

I boiled the carrots and parsnips in a minimum of water with a chicken stock cube. When they were done I poured the excess water into the stew, thickened it with a tin of baked beans and a handful of medium oatmeal and gave it a slow warm up on the stove. I mashed the carrots and parsnips with olive oil and nutmeg and had half and half of the stew and mash for dinner and tea. One helping left of each so after tea I put both together and washed my big cast iron pot out. Oatmeal is great for thickening soups and stews but you have got to be careful as it tends to stick and burn in the pan if you are not careful.....

BBQ...cooked by Febby...after he hacked away at potatoes to make flat chips. No two alike! ( thick, thin, big, small)
We all had to smile at his effort ( some burnt, some a bit raw and all a bit floppy)
:laugh5: Bless him.
( I have cooked every night thus far on our camping holiday and tonight was his turn. He spotted the sausages defrosting and claimed cooking rights. I did offer to slice the potatoes and onions, but he said he had it covered.)

I cooked two apple and pork burgers on a bed of onions and had them on three small butties for dinner. I wasn't hungry at teatime (Not working in Shed?) so just had one small slice of bread with pressed beef on it.

I had a thick slice of ham so I cooked it slowly with tomatoes and the usual suspects on the stove in the front room. I had half with beans and two fried eggs for dinner and the other half with beans and two slices of bread to dip in for tea.

Two small Pastrami butties for dinner and one normal size for tea on fresh home baked bread. I had forgotten how salty Pastrami can be and didn't really enjoy them.

Stewing beef and onions, mixed veg and mash last night. Remains of the beef and onions turned into four meat and potato pies this morning. Blind baked the bottoms, filled, lids on and now three in the freezer. One for my tea tonight with peas and gravy.

Sausage and poached egg butty for dinner. Not hungry at teatime so just two sausage in a thin crust and nibbles.....

I know Maz, but I am eating what I fancy.... (Plenty of fruit). Yesterday was a funny cooking day. I cooked carrots and parsnips in minimum water with a stock cube in and used the cooking water to cook rice and peas. Then I cooked tomatoes down to a strongly flavoured sauce and had a mixture of all the above for dinner and the same at teatime with two sausages added. I have some of the veggies left over, will go well with steak puddings today.....

Dead simple and very tasty. I had enough of the veggie and rice for two half bowls and so I had that for dinner and tea with a steak pudding. I topped up in the evening with my favourite butty, Stilton cheese, tomato and a touch of Lea and Perrins. It went down very nicely!

Weather slightly cooler so I was tempted to buy some Shin Beef this morning. Slow cooked a Stew...and I must say it was the most enjoyable meal I have had for a while. Gosh...so tender! So tasty!

Shin is excellent when slow cooked, makes a lovely gravy. Sausages, mash & onion sauce last night, rib-eye steak, chips & egg tonight.

I cooked the remainder of the sausages in tomatoes with beans and had some as a sauce on a bowl of chips for dinner. For tea I toasted what was left of the small white loaf and made Stilton butties with some of the sauce from the sausages.
I put some very fatty breast of mutton on a bed of onions and in cider. Cooked slowly overnight for 12 hours. Just separated the fat from the gravy and de-fatted all the meat. It's back on the stove for another simmer and I'll add vegetables to it this afternoon. Lovely white fat has gone in the deep fryer....

I had the last two sausages and sauce on two butties for dinner. Bought celery, carrots and small salad potatoes at dinnertime, put them in the de-fatted meat stew and cooked all afternoon. By teatime I had a rich stew for tea. It will be better today! Slow cooked Mutton is a Good Thing!

Had stew for dinner and half a bowl for tea followed by a treat. White Stilton, Mango and Ginger cheese on digestive biscuits..... (This cheese should be banned on the grounds that it is too moreish!)
