Stanley, is your shed like the Tardis? It only looks about a foot deep in the above photo and yet you keep enough wondrous things to stock a warehouse.

Strange goings on in the weird world of advertising. Vimto using toads to boost sales, Strange Gnomes being used by Asda instead of celebrities and strangest of the lot, a large, pink, mechanical pigeon being shown crapping on lucky winners by Paddy Power betting. I wonder what these people are on? Or is it that I am hopelessly out of touch with the Zeitgeist!
I ordered the wrong bags online for my Panasonic cleaner. If anyone has one of the dumpy MCE series using the HS63 bags, give me a shout, you can have them as a gift! Before anyone starts making noises about sending them back, I can't be bothered, life is too short to worry about cleaner bags!
Martha sent me this clip from the New Yorker. Interesting and accurate I reckon, just what I'd expect Prince Charles to say. LINK

China, just noticed your post... Unfortunately no, that's the auxiliary storage area and is jam packed with extremely valuable tat!
Monaco F1 today..... How they drive so fast on such a constricted track beats me! (And some of the drivers at times!)

We saw this man in Perranporth while on holiday. He's thinking "Oh dear, I should've put my wellies on, it must have rained!"

We noticed these two signs in Bodmin...

The European election results. The fact that Monaco was such an interesting race. The fact that it was light much earlier this morning.....

Rory McGrath, the 'comedian', riding a bicycle along Trumpington Road in quite heavy rain stripped to the waist.
Not a pretty sight - I averted my eyes.

I once heard a lady refer to 'a clench' of cyclists. Hope that helps....

This was more of a 'drench' than a clench. I can't get the memory out of my mind. I may need counselling. I believe Stavros Flatley will be speaking to his legal people. I think he has the rights to that sort of topless look.

Lovely thread..... (Stavros Flatley.... who he?)
I was struck by the report on racism this morning on R4. (LINK) Interesting that they do not highlight the fact that according to the survey, the level of racism is less now than in most of the twenty years up to the Millennium. And of course no mention of whether a racist stance is good or bad. There are some Polish workers living nearby and I often see them waiting for their lift into work very early in the morning. I always say good morning to them because they remind me of the terrible way Poland was treated by the rest of Europe and the way they flocked to Britain to fight the Nazis in WW2. It's as well to remember that many of the most vilified races also fought with us. I also remember how terribly the West treated the Middle East from the Crusades right up to the present day. Look up the RAF's record in Iraq in the inter war years.
Another memory comes to mind. In the days before the M6 opened I used to do a regular run on Sundays to a cattle dealer at Droitwich, Harry Laight. My route was through the poorer parts of Walsall and I noticed the scrubbed up kids, beautifully dressed walking with their parents, obviously going to church. The contrast was with the scruffy little kids playing on the back streets. Have a guess which were the natives and which were the immigrants....

David, you could be right. Mind you, I saw Wilson Kepple and Betty live at the Palladium in Stockport and I never saw them as dancers! A novelty act skating on a sand covered runway....
British Gas have started to respond to my complaint about the bill for £400 they sent me for a property in London......

That Morris Commercial truck pictured above. The driver had sensibly stopped to use his phone, I would liked to have spoken with him but it was clear that he had become a source of annoyance to the high speed traffic that uses this road. There used to be a PA business in Earby that operated from such a vehicle, does anyone know where this one is from?

Are you planning to become an MP? You could claim it on expenses then. You'll have bills for a moat next!

You are right here Thomo, it was Andy Smith from Earby who had one for his mobile PA and disco business, handy for the gala's and suchlike. Was the driver a big lad with glasses?

A hand delivered letter through my door, from BTC, caught my attention today. A meeting has been called, at 7pm on Monday at the Rainhall Centre, to discuss the works at the Memorial Gardens. "Word on the street" is that someone has objected to the new access from Mosely St into the gardens.

Not seen him for years Peter he was a customer when I was at C&T and often used to come to the workshop for components and suchlike or a bit of soldering doing.

The council have apologised for the short notice for the meeting. I'm a bit concerned that the objection will slow down the works.

The fact that the Noble Lord Rennard has issued a partial and weasel word apology admitting he may have 'inadvertently invaded some women's space'. I suspect that this is more to do with mending fences with the Liberal Group in the Lords than any genuine contrition towards the ladies he offended. They are certainly not seeing this as an apology. Wouldn't you think that an experienced politician could make a decent job of an apology no matter what his motive? They live on another planet.... Westminster!
The fact that Radio 4 cocked up this morning and lost the first 25 minutes of today's broadcasting. It was going out but what we were getting was World Service.

Does the Yorkshire Dales Mining Museum in Earby still exist? I found it on Google but couldn't get any of the web pages to open.
