GOOD TV
Re: GOOD TV
Might not be everyone's cup of tea but binge watched the BBC series Ludwig. The first episode seemed a bit 'weird' but we stuck with it and found the next five entertaining.

Another Netflix offering, Carry On. An airport security man is put under pressure to let a bag onto a flight, quite an enjoyable watch (some violence and a lot of suspense). We enjoyed it.

Re: GOOD TV
I tried to watch one of the new Star War sequels last night and gave up after 20 minutes, It simply didn't hold my attention. I am pretty sure this is a consequence of age. I reverted to Repair Shop and Youtube!

Watching old Morecambe and Wise shows with a glass of wine, even my 15 year old granddaughter is laughing.

Re: GOOD TV
I watched the penultimate episode of 'The Mirror and the Light' and whilst superb acting and production values it is not a comfortable watch. Hilary Mantel wrote a superb book and the production is as good as I have ever seen but Cromwell was a troubled man and we know it's going to be a bad end. I shall get it under my belt tonight......

Re: GOOD TV
I watched the last episode and as I forecast it was riveting but disturbing. I was glad when it was over. Back to reviewing The Repair Shop I think!

The latest Harlen Coben adaptation on Netflix, Missing You, is worth a watch. Most of it is filmed in the north of England.

Watched the second series of SAS Rogue Heroes on the iPlayer. A very good watch in my opinion as long as you remember 'this is not a history lesson'.

Re: GOOD TV
I was late in the TV lounge last night as I was waiting for a courier. When I got in it was my normal fare of YouTube and The Repair Shop.

Re: GOOD TV
I suppose not to everyone's taste but I watched an episode of Surgeons at the Edge of Life which this week featured a craniotomy to remove three small rapidly growing grade three, (cancerous tumours) from the lining of the skull (meninges) of a woman. Smaller than the tumour I had, (which fortunately turned out to be grade one) but a lot more dangerous. They could tell that these were cancerous as they had regrown rapidly from a previous operation so they already knew the histology. Fortunately, although separate they were all accessible from the same area of skull that they removed to gain access. Removal of the tumours from two separate regions of the brain, two in the motor cortex region and one in the area that controls speech. Similar duration to my op, 6.5 -7 hours and fascinating to watch. Especially the electronic overlay mapping of the tumour dimensions, orientation and exact location.
After the operation the surgeon said that he was always nervous waiting for the patient to wake up. He was present when she did and his first question was whether she could raise her right arm and answer him. Both OK in this instance. She made a full recovery cancer free.
My surgeon, Ian Anderson was the same with me, he was there shortly after I woke up in the HDU to check my status. He was not happy with the nurse who was trying to drown me with water vapour to drive out air bubbles from my skull. He said they would be gone without any intervention by the time I had my second scan later in the day, he was right.
She did make me tea and toast though.

Re: GOOD TV
Having spent 5 years, working as an 'assistant', in an operating theatre 40 odd years ago I find programmes like that fascinating. I just can't get Paulette to watch them with me

Re: GOOD TV
Never knew you had that on your CV Kev, fascinating isn't it. What they can do now is amazing. Still don't know why I never had a headache post op.
Having said that I can't remember having any headache ever since which I suppose is a bonus.

Re: GOOD TV
I started as a porter at 18 years old and within a few weeks I was working in the theatre, If it had paid a decent wage I would probably still be doing it now (aside from the fact the hospital was demolished several years ago and is now housing).

Re: GOOD TV
Patience, on Channel 4, is a good watch. The main character, of the same name as the series, is a neurodivergent actress playing a neurodivergent character. Neurodivergence is the latest 'label' for anyone in the autistic spectrum, those of us who aren't are labelled as neurotypical.
