I had my walk and a sit and it was cold but supportable. Since I came back it has started raining. I'm glad I'm not out in it!

Not a bad forecast at all Wendy for today....
Yesterday rain came in after lunch and at 20:00 it was cold and damp but not actually raining. This morning it's the same, cold, overcast and evidence of a recent shower. The glass is down on 980mb. The forecast is for the cloud to improve to sunny intervals later and then a clear cold night. The Mainly NW wind is light to moderate giving a high of 8C and a low tonight of 2C with a -2C wind chill. The outlook is for similar weather. It's late November isn't it.....

I've had my walk to Town Square and a sit on traffic duty. Not warm but then not seriously cold (two men in shorts seem to bear this out....)
Back in the warm for a bit of lunch.....

Yesterday finished up overcast and breezy at 20:00. It's the same this morning but dry. The glass is on 981mb and falling. The forecast is for a wet day. There may be a break in the rain around midday. The moderate southerly wind gives a high of 8C a low of 5C and a wind chill of -3C for most of the day but rising to -4C in the evening when the wind gusts to over 30mph. The 6 day outlook is for similar broken weather.

It stopped raining at noon just as the forecast predicted so I have had a short walk and a top up shop at the Co-op.
Now for a spot of lunch..... :biggrin2:

Yesterday finished by being a bit damp but at 20:00 it was dry and we had a light breeze. This morning it's the same and we have a clear sky. The glass has risen to 990mb. The forecast is for a dry morning with sunny spells but rain coming in from 14:00 onwards. The Southerly wind is constant, brisk and gusts to over 35mph at times giving a high of 10C and a low of 6C with a -4C chill at times. The 6 day outlook is for similar temperatures but generally more dry and bright.
Later. Listening to the Shipping Forecast... warnings of gales in almost all areas. We should remember how lucky we are....

Yesterday afternoon was showery but by 20:00We had a light breeze a clear sky and it was dry. First thing this morning it was the same but with evidence of a recent shower. Since then it has clouded over and there is rain on the wind. The glass is up a bit on 997mb and rising quickly. The forecast is for light showers until mid morning and then sunny intervals for the rest of the day. The constant SW wind is brisk and gusts to over 30mph giving a high of 9C a low of 6C and a wind chill of up to -4C so it will always feel cold. The 6 day outlook is for similar weather but perhaps less rain.

Wendy, that prompted me to go back and have a look.... Here's part of what you wrote.
"The door we use all the time is on the north side and was on the list for changing before Col became ill. There are huge gaps all round it and a cat flap and a stupid letter box that opens inwards, the wind was whistling loudly through them all night. I had to lock the cat flap and still can't unlock it as it just flies open."
We do forget don't we. That was hard weather, glad it isn't like that today!

Bit different today, I have just had a short walk and a sit at the end of Albert Road. Not much wind and as long as you wrap up warm it's perfectly acceptable. I wouldn't have been walking or sitting if it had been like last year.....

Yesterday stayed dry and at 20:00 the sky was clearing. This morning we have a light breeze, a clear sky and it is cool. The glass has fallen to 1000mb and is steady. The forecast is for a partly clouded start brightening to sunny spells later. We have a moderate southerly wind until early afternoon when it swings to a light NE. The high is 8C, the low is 2C and we have a -3C chill this morning. The outlook is for cooler cloudy weather but dry.

Yesterday stayed dry again and at 20:00 we had a light breeze and a very light overcast. This morning it's calm, cool and foggy. The glass is up on 1014mb and rising. The forecast is for the mist/fog to linger until midday then settle into bright overcast. The very light wind starts in the west but settles into SE by mid afternoon giving a high of 5C and a low of 3C with a -1C wind chill all day. We are settling a spell of high pressure and this shows in the 6 day forecast, almost identical weather to today for as far ahead as we can see.

There was a red aurora warning last night due to an ongoing solar storm. Visible down as far as North Wales but not in Barlick due to the mist.

Pity Ian, it would be nice to see the Northern Lights in Barlick!
I've been for my walk but no sitting about in the cold fog. I did wonder earlier if we would have a frost but we escaped that, but not by much!

Our central heating kicked in overnight, no doubt on its frost settings. Bins were covered in frost when I put ours out this morning. We only have it on for an hour in the morning, (7.00 - 8.00) to warm the bathroom and a couple of hours early evening. Previous years we would leave it on all the time from about now until spring.

My neighbour was scraping his car windows at 06:45 this morning, the fog never really cleared either.
I've not noticed the heating coming on overnight though, it's on all day so there's probably more than enough residual heat to not drop below 16 degrees overnight.
The only time it did come on overnight was back in March, it had been off for two weeks when we were somewhere warm.

It has been seen before in Barlick. Local photographer Aiden Wellock, (Northern Images Photography) got a good shot a few years ago down at Greenberfield Locks one up Lister Well Road an even more amazing one up near Chelker Reservoir.
