In the shed. At the moment I'm draining the old cutting oil out of the horizontal mill because the outlet cock will have to come off for the new saw to go in. I have some floor paint as well somewhere......

Ah, yes, the heat kept me awake, Stanley, and we wanted to visit the Benedictine factory at Fecamp this morning. That meant driving 90 minutes north, giving us a four and a half hour drive down here afterwards. Lovely sunny warm evening here. The garden is very overgrown and some things have died completely in the heat.

Glad you are happy Sue.
I suspect that a lifetime of dicipline, at school, in the army and at work has left a mark on me. Years spent working to the clock had an effect as well. The result is that I am only at ease with my world when all is running smoothly and I am on schecule. I still work like that even though I am retired, that's why I am aleays up early in the morning. I like to get the day on track before the rest of the world has woken up. That's why this morning has been an upset start. Various small things ranging from reading my gas and leccy meters to solving a low speed connection to my ISP (less than 1mps.... took me back to the days of dial-up!) got under the feet and I am now running an hour behind. But that is no matter because I am retired, I don't have to be at Linclon and Carleton Dairy at 05:30 or have the engine running in time for the weavers....
I wouldn't have it any other way and I feel sorry for young people who are not helped into an ordered life when they leave school because there are no jobs for them.
So, I shall be mainly getting back on track with the daily tasks and then a trip to the shed....

That little tractor is one of the most useful things we've bought. When we bought this block it was part of a farm subdivision, flat with only a few trees on the 2 acres. We got it to move soil and mulch to build some garden beds. The bonus is that it has a 60 inch cutting deck so mowing the lawns is a lot quicker than using the ride on mower. The intention was to keep it for a couple of years then sell it. 6 years later it is still used regularly.

Lovely piece of garden equipment! I envy you.....
Quieter day than yesterday, no interruptions so far! Shed later and nothing else pressing in on me.... Life is one long holiday as long as the world leaves me alone.

That is what Bob wants for the field here in France. Our plot is about 2 acres and it takes forever to mow when we have been away for a bit.

I shall be in the shed as usual but at about 14:00 Mick the Shed will be turning up with my power saw! Really excited about this, it's going to solve a lot of problems and is something I've wanted for years. I have got together a pile of goodies for Mick, John and Dave my brethren in the NE. I find it very easy these days to give surplus kit away, it gives me more room in the shed!
I still have one yen nagging at me. I want a small shaper like an Adept and before I die I am going to find one!
Lovely to be excited about something like this.... I think I'm still a young lad deep down!

Back to the hospital today to see the registrar for the documentation then to the funeral director with the green authorisation to move certificate. We know the drill so well.

Indeed Stanley, today is the appointment with the Vicar to sort out the details for the church service. I will be attending with Sally and Julia. It's more or less the last thing to organise apart from getting the details back to the undertaker so that they can print up the order of service. Times have already been agreed for Friday 24th July, 1.00pm from Helliwells, 1.15pm at Holy Trinity followed by cremation at Waltonwrays, Skipton at 2.25pm. We will get the cortege to go through Carleton where Louise lived most of her married life. We will be returning to Carleton for the funeral tea at the Swan.

Same day as my eye op! I shall remember and be thinking about you all.....
The major task for today after usual dog care and shed is to get scrubbed up for tea with my grand daughter Jessica and her partner Mo in their now house..... I said yesterday I would wear the wedding suit from 1992 but Quelle Horreur! when I looked in the forbidden Zone in the wardrobe it wasn't there! I must have chucked it out...... I shall be a symphony in olive green corduroy.
