Watched an 8 part series on the iPlayer over the last few days, This City Belongs To Us. It's about a Liverpool drug dealing family's infighting, it was pretty good.

Strangely enough - I want nothing at all to do with a "Liverpool drug dealing family's infighting" .

Does that make me odd?

I enjoyed the French version of Maigret last night, on Talking Pictures TV. In French, with English subtitles. Too fast for me but, good practice for someone swotting up the lanuage on Duolingo I'd say.

I have to agree with you David. I remember what my mother said when I found her watching movies in B&W on her colour TV set. She said the endings were better in black and white. I know what she meant.... :biggrin2:

Last night I found myself watching a riveting but totally spurious history of HMS Leviathan. Supposedly the career of Brunel's Great Eastern after being bought by the royal navy.
A brilliant invention and I recommend it to you....

Watched a good programme on Edward VII on Youtube and was reminded that Camshaft is the great grand daughter of Edward VII's mistress Alice Kepple. It seems that being a mistress runs in the family!

I enjoyed watching Ronnie working his magic to defeat Ali Carter and then watched a very good programme about the life of Marshall Zhukov the great Russian general. (Eisenhower said that he was the main intellect behind the Russian advance on Berlin and the end of the war.)

I've watched a bit of the snooker, but am getting a bit 'over supplied'. Perhaps snooker fatigue is setting in. I find it hard to work up any enthusiasm, and rarely really care who wins a particular match. Perhaps it's me - I have the same feeling for the Premier league football too.

One thing I notice is that the sponsor is a company called 'Halo'. Their logo is all over the place, but I'm no wiser as to what business they are in. From the large number of Chinese players, I'd guess that perhaps they are a Chinese company - but If they are aiming at me they've wasted their sponsorship money.

I watched a very good film made in Australia which examined the nickel mining industry for the EV market. I become more and more convinced David is right!
Ronald Antonio O'Sullivan is through into the semi-finals of the World Championship at the Crucible.... :good:

FRi 2 May 25.
Ronnie lost the session by 8 frames to nil

I was not aware of this -
In January 2023, the sport's governing body suspended Zhao Xintong as part of a match-fixing investigation involving ten Chinese players.[4] He was subsequently charged with being involved in fixing matches on the World Snooker Tour and betting on snooker. Following an independent disciplinary tribunal, Zhao was banned from professional competition until 1 September 2024.[5]

Shouild not be playing - neither should John Higgins.

I didn't know that either David. I will admit I am off snooker at the moment!

The young Chinese guy is a joy to watch, On his first visit to the Crucible he demolished Ronnie who it has to be said, and he said it himself, was not on his best game. I don't follow any individual player as such, I just appreciate a good game whoever wins. It will be Judd Trump or Mark Williams to play Zhao Xintong in the final, should be a good match. Zhao has a day off now as he beat Ronnie without an extra session today. If he doesn't take the title this year he is definitely one to watch if you like the game.

There are some really good history programmes cropping up at the moment on YouTube. Last night I watched an informative one on the history of Russia.... There is still so much to learn!

Has anyone been watching Malpractice on itv? I’m putting it down to our age, but there are a lot of “names” in it, that I get mixed up. Finding it very difficult to follow.

This is Basher Watts. He syndicated his first racehorse "She's Perfect" last year, a filly - and she turned out to have some ability. I've no financial interest, but I've been following their progress since then.

They entered her for the French Group One race the 1000 Guineas today, and here he is watching the race. I was almost as exercised as he was. ' Shooey' is the jockey Kieran Shoemark, who has had a very interesting week, Charlie (Fellowes) is the trainer. There's a shocking spoiler though -

Here the team watching the race live. She's Perfect

I can see why you are so interested in the Turf David..... I am still watching the history lectures. I love the clarity of the information and the diction. Funny how I can hear and understand perfectly......
