Nothing wrong with decent sausages Moh I had some curry ones yesterday from our artisan (Hutchinsons) Pie and Sausage shop, very nice they were as well. John has a freezer full of all sorts of variations, he does a full English breakfast one and many others. Chili ones were very good, even had kidney beans in.

Two teacake butties with a chicken drumstick and tomato on them for dinner and a small helping of the stewed mutton for tea.

In contrast I had the last of the mutton stew and the first of a new one I constructed yesterday. I am trying to empty the freezer so I can get another half a sheep....

Omelettes for dinner here. My friends are giving me about a dozen eggs per week, a lot more than we would normally use.

Cutting two thick slices off the rump of beef and heating them through in an onion gravy I have in the freezer, with new potatoes & mixed greens.

Liz, lucky you. Eggs and milk are wonderful foods....
My latest slow cooked mutton reached its peak yesterday. I got carrots and parsnips and boiled them then mashed. That and the stew fed me yesterday and I have three bowls in the fridge ready for use. No cooking today and I gradually empty the freezer.

Kids were round for tea last night so we put a ham joint in the slow cooker and had it with spuds carrots and cheese sauce. The remains of the ham and stock will make pea and ham soup, will probably put some dumplings on the top, back end food.

Pork pie and baked beans for dinner. Two chicken legs and a pork pie for tea. I am almost at the bottom of the freezer. I have cooked a ham shank in cider overnight in the slow cooker.....

Had this last night - very good.
Take as much lamb's liver as you think you can handle, slice it into thin strips Fry in as little oil as you can get away with. After a couple of minutes add a thinly sliced small onion, half a thinly sliced red pepper, and a small grating of root ginger. Fry for a few more minutes. Then add a cupful of water or so, into which you have mixed two teaspoons of Bisto powder, some dried sage, a splash of balsamic vinegar, and a slug of
Linghams Chilli Sauce.
Let it all simmer for a while, adjust the liquid to get a good thickened gravy, then serve with some plain white Basmati rice.
After pigs trotters, ox cheek, and belly pork - I think it may be the next big thing.

I cooked carrots in the cider gravy from the hock and steamed a cauliflower on top. I had the cauli for dinner. Popped the carrots and gravy in the slow cooker, added pearl barley, frozen green beans and chopped ham and cooked slowly all afternoon. So tea was a very acceptable ham and veggie stew.

I nominate Moh as Queen of the Sunday Roast. One of the last bastions of my childhood food!
Dinner was a bowl of the Ham and veggies. Tea was the same and one bowl put in the fridge for today. I had oatcake biscuits and cheese for a filler and fruit for pudding of course. The Russets are in season and I always enjoy them while they last.....

I had the last of the ham and veggies for dinner and at teatime I had three small butties, one cheese and tomato and two fried egg.
Meanwhile, during the day I slow cooked the last of the mutton from the freezer and gradually built it up with new potatoes and veggies into a good stew. It sat all night and is having its last spell of cooking this morning thickened with pearl barley and lentils. There is two days grub here!
Later.... I almost cracked and spent £50+ on a ceramic frying pan but at the last minute remembered that I have an old CI pan that I took into the shed and milled the base to make sure it was flat. I got it out, cleaned it and at the moment it's seasoning in a very hot oven. It will be far better than my 'good' pan which unfortunately sticks to everything because the Teflon is buggered. I shall consider polishing the old coating off and seasoning it like a cast iron pan.... Cheaper than a new one and just as good!
The pan after seasoning in a very hot oven for 45 minutes coated with rape oil. That's the mottled finish. I shall report on how we get on with it.

Eggs still stick to my pan but I am working on it!
Mutton and veggies for dinner and tea...... Bacon butty later as a top up, they were only small bowls.

I was going to put a casserole in the oven for 3 hours but I got held up. I pressure cooked the meat, cooked the onion, added a stubbie of beer and thickened it with flour. Then I added all the other veggies and the meat and put it in the oven. I suppose the worst thing that could happen is that the meat 'dissolves'.

You can buy decent ceramic pans for a lot less than £50 Stanley, we have a set of three but eggs still stick to them!
There is a solution though, we have two small teflon coated egg pans, they only cost a few quid and do what they say on the tin, a perfect fried egg. Every kitchen should have one.
