I made a start on the same programme last night and watched two episodes. I found it gentle, weird but fascinating. How could you miss Michael Palin? He plays the father of the main character. I'm looking forward to seeing more.

That's fine- but I just comment on what I thought. Not for me.
I just watched
Who killed Lamb?
Enjoyed it - old fashioned from another time - when there was no traffic on Oxford, and everyone smoked. I thought Baker would have made a good Bond, and John Thaw was lucky to become Morse.
PS This is similar but earlier (1960)
Hell is a CityHell is a City
Filmed in Manchester - note the pub in Cromford Court off Market Street, and there is some vivid social history in the "Two Up" school in the hills above Oldham. Note the final scene in Lewis's Arcade demonstrating the origin of the Manchester saying "standing there like one o'Lewis's".
SCG will have heard it. . . .

We watched The Lady on Sunday and Monday, caught up with last two last night. It certainly keeps the attention.

"SCG will have heard it."
Sorry to disappoint you David but it doesn't ring a bell!

Don't know how this found me but it has some watchable episodes.
Very dated but you can hear every word, and the plots makes sense. Back to the sixties and seventies. Lots of familiar famous faces.
Hyacinth Bucket as Queen Victoria . . . . .

No provocative casting.
Classic British Telly
PS I've just watched
THIS with George Baker, Peter Davison and Bobby Knutt.

I've never seen that site before David. It looks interesting. I shall go back and look at it later. Thanks for the heads-up.

We watched this short series over the last couple of nights. Quite disturbing
"In an idyllic Oxfordshire hamlet, the fish in the river keep dying. Why?
David Thewlis and Jason Watkins lead this shocking real-life drama of victims, whistleblowers, and England’s water companies. "

Morning Mick! I haven't seen that particular programme but I am aware of what is happening and it's a disgrace.... Particularly as the customers are having to pay for the investment to improve things.....

Young Sherlock is worth a watch if you have Amazon Prime, directed by Guy Ritchie

The Capture, on BBC1. Must have missed this when season 1 first aired, season 3 is currently running. Watched seasons 1 and 2 on the iPlayer and really enjoyed it. Certainly a thought provoking watch.

I just watched an old episode of Antiques Roadshow on BBC 2. Quite a nostalgic experience.
A simple programme format it seemed - just whoever turned up with their antique 'treasures'. The present production team have managed to change he programme out of all recogntion. There is a slant on everything now - choice of crowd at the venue, presenters, and 'antique' objects (which often are quite modern). Lots of medals, rolex watches. and tribal art for example
You wouldn't think it could be done - to make the show totally 'woke', but they've done it. Seek it out and see what you think -or more likely don't bother. I take an interest having been given recently some quite shocking, first hand evidence, of the modern BBC agenda. There surely is one - I'm fully convinced.
Does it matter? I doubt it, but I just thought I'd mention it. Feel free to ignore me.

I think it does matter David and it worries me. My problem is that I don't know how valid my criticisms of today's BBC is, I might be too full of nostalgia for what used to be. I was reared on BBC News and Children's Hour......
