My brother in Cardiff had his 4 th jab in October , but as I have said before his immune system is practically knocked out with his medication. It did the trick and when he caught covid he was hardly ill at all , plus of course he had the antiviral medication as soon as his PCR test was positive

I'm still testing positive although the 'line' isn't as prominent today. I reckon another couple of days and it'll be clear :good:

I've spoken to them and it was a message to tell me what I already new about my prescriptions..... I don't think the surgery internal systems are talking to each other!

I've stopped coughing, which is good. I seem to have lost my sense of taste and smell though.

14? That's pants. I still have a head full of cotton wool and the occasional cough, it just needs to go away now. Social responsibility is very inconvenient.

Actually you are not infective, your positive test is non viable and dead viruses so I believe My sister in law was contacted to say not to worry and she was ok. A positive PCR testv can go on for weeks for the same reason. Its not testing for viruses but the chemicals still in your blood stream.

Emailed my GP yesterday to discuss a decongestant, to help with the sinus discomfort, after several years of being told not to use cold remedies or decongestants it would seem he is happy for me to use Sudafed nasal spray. I must say it's a revelation, my head is much clearer this morning. The only downside to 'loosening' everything is I've pulled a muscle in my chest while coughing , that's not nice.

I'll leave any further testing for a week :good:

Mild headaches here too Gloria, I'm blaming it on dehydration. Apart from trying to suppress the annoying cough (not breathing helps :biggrin2: ) we're both on the mend. Fortunately it's been nowhere near as bad as the heavy colds we both had at the end of 2019.

In our local area, officially Somerset West and Taunton, there is a 70% increase in positive covid test results compared with the previous week. I visited the main hospital for an Audiology appointment yesterday and kept my mask tight against my face because the hospital has seen a substantial influx of covid cases.

Gloria, Kev, you really have got it much worse than Bob and all the rest of my family at Christmas . They have been saying , I believe, that the booster injection is not as effective as it was but still at about 70%. Perhaps thats the reason

The numbers are not rising as quickly in Greater manchester , but we were very bad.y hit last year so probably a large proportion have effective antibodies. Rochdale is the lowest in Greater Manchester. This time last year it was the highest, week on week

I'm definitely on the mend, it's just hanging around. The Sudafed is doing its job and the cough has nearly gone. I've had to practice very shallow breathing as I pulled a muscle in my chest which is an annoyance.
Symptoms started on Sunday 6th and the PCR was positive on the 8th so it's really only 11 days.

The sudden rise in Covid infections in our area noted by the ONS data is now confirmed by many people we know telling us they're testing positive. These are people our age, sensible, cautious, not party-goers. I think the combination of a very infectious variant and people stopping wearing masks has been the cause.

I reckon it's mainly the very infectious variant, I picked it up in an environment where everyone was masked 90% of the time.

Numbers in Rochdale remain about the same level as last October, creeping up slowly but not substantial . I am using the zoe figures on the covid 19 app. I still don’t regard it as an issue.
