TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
I'll need the snow shovel, got to be in Barlick for 10 am, Paulette has a dental appointment. No drifting but it's a slight incline to get off the drive

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
We will need digging out, there is a 6ft drift across our track and the road outside is impassable. I need to use my shovel out to get to the hen house...
Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
I dug the car out while it's still soft, there's only about 8 inches on the ground. We're quite sheltered here so no drifting, hopefully it'll be gone before it freezes tonight.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Wendy, You're giving the game away admitting you've got hens when you acted dumb to Ken earlier on!
Yesterday there was a fair clap of snow but by 09:00 it had stopped and the sky cleared. We had a lovely sunny day and the snow gradually shrank back down here and by 20:00 it was a lot less but starting to freeze. This morning it's calm, clear and freezing with a good moon. The glass has jumped up to 1005mb and the forecast until dusk tonight is for a dry sunny day but then snow is forecast which will turn into rain tomorrow (which at the moment is forecast to be 9C).
The SE wind will be light giving a high of 3C and a low tonight of 0C with as much as -5C wind chill. The outlook for tomorrow and Monday is for temperatures close to double figures, Tuesday and Wednesday back to 3 or 4C and then back into double figures towards the end of the week. (Our little brush with the tail end of winter might be over!)

That shovel looks lonely Wendy! I wish you a sure slow thaw over the next couple of days even though we have snow forecast for Later tonight. (But it turns to rain.)

This is someone else's photo of the road heading towards Black Lane Ends Inn, taken yesterday afternoon. There are 3 cars buried on that stretch!

That was a big snow Wendy. As big as some notable ones in the past. Luckily we look as though we are going to be lucky and get shut quickly.....

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
There is nothing worse for us than an easterly wind plus snow! Luckily the neighbours have only lost a couple of lambs, you think the worst when you see the drifts up to the wall tops.
Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
It’s a long weekend for us in Adelaide because Monday is Adelaide Cup Day. March is also full of entertainment, musical and cultural events.
Hope your weather improves.

Can't compete with Wendy's drifts but enough to keep me indoors for the day.

Colin managed to get out with a bit of off roading in the field. You can't keep a hunter gatherer from his Saturday morning shop! He has a free bakery item to get from Lidl....
Notcertain that he'll get back in though.

I've been for a walk up the road to see the carnage. 3 more vehicles have been added to the drifts overnight.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Down here in Barlick we are enjoying full sun and a nice thaw as the temperature has risen. Tomorrow and Monday are forecast as 10C so that should help even Wendy.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Unless you are a meteorologist who never seem to learn that the seasons are determined by the rotation of our planet around our sun. Not conveniently by the start of the month. Same for the other seasons as well. Wake up, it's still Winter, anything can happen with the weather in the next 9 days and often does.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday stuck to the script and it snowed a little in the late afternoon and by 20:00 we had prawn cracker snow again for a while (Thanks Kev......) but no weight and this morning it's calm, overcast raining lightly and not freezing. The glass is down on 997mb and the forecast is for a day of bright overcast with sunny intervals and showers later tonight. The constant SW wind is brisk gusting to almost 40mph and gives us a high of 10C and a low of 9C tonight with at most a -4C wind chill. The bottom line is a thaw for Wendy and Colin all day. The outlook is for a week of these temperatures with just one exception, two bright, cold days on Tuesday and Wednesday. Looking better!

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
The day goes forward as promised with a brisk SW wind bringing the temperature down a bit but OK as long as you keep moving. I have been for a short walk but not a sit, just glad to be out in the fresh air! Bright sunny and mild..... feels a lot like the start of Spring weather......

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday afternoon finished with rain At 20:00 we had wind and rain and it was the same first thing this morning. The glass has plummeted during the night to 976mb and is still falling. The forecast is for rain all day turning to sleet and snow during the night for a much worse day tomorrow. The constant SW wind is strong and gusts to over 45mph giving a high of 10C and a low tonight of -1C with a -4C wind chill most of the day. This looks like a touch of the equinoctial gales and the outlook for the next couple of days is back to single figures for the temperature but than recovering later in the week from Thursday onwards.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday was not complicated, it was wet and windy all day and at 20:00 last night it was still wet and windy. This morning it was calmer and cold and had stopped raining. The glass is down on 981mb and rising. The forecast is for broken cloud, dry with with some sun until noon when it will start snowing/raining and this will persist for the rest of the day. The WNW wind will be brisk and gust to 30mph giving us a high of 4C and a low of -4C tonight with as much as -5C wind chill during the day. Tomorrow we can expect the same but then on Thursday and the two days following we are promised as high as 13C but with wind and rain. The change over to reliable Spring weather always was turbulent and this year is no exception.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday was wet and windy with snow at times and at 20:00 it was still the same. First thing this morning it was calmer, cold and we had a clear sky. Since then we have got mist to go with the frost. The glass has risen to 1010mb and the forecast is for a misty, overcast day and later this afternoon we can expect rain to come in and extend over the next two days. The wind is light and variable but around noon settles into the SE and we shall have a high of 5C and a low of 3C with a wind chill that could reach -4C but is much less most of the time. Overall the day warms up as it goes on and from tomorrow we can expect double figures.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
I've just got back from my walk to post a letter. I did my Thursday veggie shopping in the Town Square because the forecast says tomorrow is going to be very wet. I had half an hour on traffic duty at the end of Albert Road. The sun came out and it was quite acceptable. I wouldn't be doing that tomorrow.....

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER
Yesterday stayed dry until 16:00 when it started raining. Dead in line with the forecast. At 20:00 we had heavy rain and we still had it this morning. Since then it has bated slightly but it's still raining and the glass has fallen like a stone, it's down on 997mb and still tending to fall. The forecast is for persistent rain with a yellow warning until 15:00. The constant SSW wind is brisk and gusts at time almost to 35mph giving a high of 10C and a low of 7C tonight with a chill of -3C at times. The outlook is for even milder weather with plenty of rain for the next six days.....
