Ah well, Bob does the cooking in England, I do it in France. We clean the house together at the weekend, so no chores needed bar putting the washer on. We have a dishwasher so no pots to wash. I get all Sunday to sew after Claire and family have been for lunch as Bob is out at the model steam train circuit at the park. I too find sewing absolutely absorbing so Sunday soon disappears. I usually do my ironing whilst I have the iron out for sewing. I am a great believer in pressing as I sew. I also like ironing so am quite happy to continue when the sewing is finished.

Oh yes...one of my habits too...can't sew without the iron!
I do as much work with the iron as I do with my machine.
My hubby doesn't cook. Having said that, he did cook one night whilst we were on holiday a fortnight ago.
We had bought half a dozen eggs and a crusty loaf, and he asked if I would prefer scrambled eggs or poached eggs. (I like scrambled but he likes poached). I wasn't fussed...said I preferred scrambled but would eat poached...

he served me an omelette
( he thought that was how you make scrambled eggs!)
Tasted lovely, but we had a good laugh...

I'm in the Maz camp here.... (apart from the fact that I have to do everything....) I never go into the shed until everything else is in order. Indoor jobs take precedence over the shed. For instance, I need to write articles and they will probably knock the shed out altogether today.

Truth be known so am I. Beds made, kitchen and lounge and bathroom tidied, dishwasher loaded all before we do anything. I do some things and Bob does the others.

I work on the concept of 'getting a straight edge'. It applies to so many things. I hate leaving loose ends. I'm sure that this is probably a mild form of OCD but that doesn't worry me, life seems to go on more smoothly if a straight edge has been reached before you move on to the next task. It certainly makes for a quiet mind as far as I am concerned! Further, I think it works at a subconscious level, I am always vaguely surprised when I reach knocking off time in the shed and find I have simultaneously reached the straight edge.

Agreed, but it can be very frustrating if that straight edge can't be found!

I'm useless at straight edges...which probably explains why I don't do anything creative these days.

The straight edge is always at cross purposes with the bias!
( I can always find the straight edge...where are you getting your fabric from?!!!!)

I declined the shed yesterday in favour of writing two BET articles to get them off my back....
Hope to be back in there this morning but I have at least one more article nagging at me.... Funny, when I get an idea in my head it demands to be put down on the page.

Febby oiled the back deck yesterday and again this morning, so I have made a start on oiling the timber outdoor furniture. Love seeing the beautiful colours come up in the timber with the application of oil. Looks fabulous.
Polite notices have been placed out the front declining Halloween callers. Guess the car loads of kids will be arriving in an hour or two...

Street is full to the brim with bumper to bumper traffic. Kids everywhere...UNBELIEVABLE.
No stash of sweets would survive the onslaught..
I sit here behind locked doors, clutching a glass of wine. Febby has hidden his chocolate...

My street had 3 lots of visitors. 1- a group of gangly teenagers that had no idea how to 'work the street' and only two of them had made half of an effort to dress-up, but one wore a backpack so they were obviously hopeful to receive a lot of sweets.2- a group of little darlings very excited in full costumes and accompanied by two adults and 3-three young girls in costumes with their guard-dog. The latter were the only ones to knock on my door.
It's pitch black now and all back to normal, fingers crossed

Finally quieter here too. Three hours of madness!
The "die hards" are still partying in the street, but the crowds have gone back to their graves...

When we went to the village bakery at 10.00am there were two young girls/ghouls outside already dressed up for this evenings activities. One of them had the gaudiest pink hair that I've ever seen. More frightening than witches!

When I went grocery shopping yesterday, all the supermarket staff were in Halloween costumes
It was all a bit strange.

The only evidence I have seen (apart from the promotions in the Cathedral of Choice) was some faux cobwebs on the read-out monitor on the supermarket check out.... It sounds horrendous!
On a more serious note, Jack heard his first firework last night, or at least I assume he did because he suddenly jumped on the sofa with me as we minded our own business watching TV. He was obviously frightened and wanted TLC.... I hate fireworks even more than Halloween.... That's why I am up slightly earlier, he hadn't come up in the night to join me in bed which is unusual so I got up early to check he was OK. All was well, he had moved to the rocking chair in the kitchen.....

Our neighbour goes to town with streamers and lights across windows and doors, plus lit up pumpkins. To top it all her and her hubby dressed up as Count Drac & Mortitia - all for the benefit of their nieces - as we had no trick or treaters in the area.
