This morning, early , the man came to measure up for the new kitchen.

Nope. It's all part of a grand plan, let's get all the mess over together.
1. New boiler and thermostats on radiators. This system is as old as the house is, 1967. Works well but can never be repaired now.
2. Take out glass screen between lounge and dining room and replace with glass panelled folding doors, so we can open it all up when the family comes. This will necessitate a new carpet but this one will go to France for the master bedroom which is also having work done.
3 remove large brick fireplace in lounge, strip anaglypta of walls replaster ceiling, fire surround and the ceiling of the dining room which needs a repair after a roof leak. ( roof repaired a month ago )
4. Box in washer and drier in the conservatory with a worktop and add matching cupboard to take all gardening and washing stuff. Place plants on new worktop.
5 in searching for number 4 we came across number 5 a new kitchen. The fitters will do it all including the fittings in the conservatory

This all makes the house sound as if it is falling down, no ,just no time for redecoration whilst looking after Dad all those years.

That will bring the front of the house up to the standard of the back which was redecorated and repaired after our flood 18 months ago.

My personal treat is a sewing table/ unit to tidy up my sewing room

"anaglypta off walls" Good luck with that, it sticks like the proverbial! You might need some remedial plaster skimming!
In the shed after picking up my steel plates at Gissing's. Nice to have reliable friends.....
Ordering a new computer chair. The repair I did is fine but now the connection at the top of the column has failed. I think it's reached its sell by date. Doesn't owe me anything, Doc gave it to me.

That is the problem Stanley it is a heavy one and is lifting off the wall by itself! The replastering the ceiling in the lounge is to cover the dreadful wood chip that the previous owner put on and we can't move. We have got the anaglypta off in most of the house, just the lounge and our bedroom to do.

PS. Bobs personal treat is a mini tractor for France.

Sounds like a lot of hard work & mess, but it will no doubt be worth it.

Anaglypta was so popular at one time and I know from experience how bad it can be to get rid of. That wood-chip paint as well.... I can remember when it was all the rage and have some on my stairs but that is wood chip wallpaper and not so much of a problem.
I have plenty to do in the shed.... I am so lucky to have this interest, apart from anything else it keeps me on my feet and they tell me that this is as good as walking..... It certainly keeps my brain active, even during the night when I am asleep and the Design Committee convenes a meeting!

A SORRY TALE

The old and very good office chair that Doc gave me many years ago had developed a dangerous nod apart from having an unreliable hydraulic cylinder in the support so I decided it was time to bite the bullet and get a replacement. Nowt to it, go on Amazon find a chair that looked OK and get it ordered....
It was delivered yesterday and the first glitch was that I expected a chair to be delivered and not a box with a DIY chair in it. So I sat reading all day waiting for the delivery. It wasn't until I was making my tea and went out to put an empty can in the recycle bin that I found the box which must have been delivered around 10:30 in the morning! I missed my afternoon sleep for nothing! Ah well....
I opened the box, took all the bits out and erected the chair. As I did so I realised I had bought the worst chair in the world! Exactly how it appeared on the picture in the advertisement but nevertheless flimsy in the extreme. Then I realised it had an even bigger fault, it was tiny! Even at full extension, though comfortable. I was looking up at the computer screen. Not happy..... But what did I expect for £40?
Before I put the chair in place to try it I moved the old chair and was surprised when the seat came off the top of the support column, this was why it had been nodding. This didn't surprise me because I knew it had gone wrong but when I looked more closely I realised that the reason it was loose wasn't a broken weld as I had suspected but the fact that my 'cure' to stop the seat dropping down on the column had forced the conical seating at the top of the column out of its socket!
I retired to bed a sadder and wiser man. This morning I cleaned up the column top and socket, removed the block of wood I had put on to stop it dropping, put a good dose of Shaftlock anaerobic glue on and popped the seat back in place. I have to report that has cured the nodding and I once more have a stable seat even though the cylinder will still be leaking. The 'naughty chair' is sat in the hall. If anyone wants a chair for a child let me know, they can have it as a gift. I have no come-back on the supplier as it is everything they described. It serves me right, write off the whole lot and box on.

I met Maz today. We are on holiday in Victor Harbour. How great was that? Not often you actually get to meet someone one on a website you access every day. She and David made me very welcome. I hope they're not sorry, we may stay another few days here.

Enjoy our beautiful stretch of coastline for as long as you like, Liz. When we go on our daily walks ( be it coastal or river), Hubby always says " Why would you want to live anywhere else?"
I don't want to be anywhere else. I like being swallowed up by the calm and simplicity of this place. We have done the hard yards. It is "our time" now....

I don't think so. Time to check out the 'Distance Selling Regulations' As I understand it, you can send anything back for any reason within 7 days. You may have to stand the postage costs though. Rather worryingly though, Watchdog had several cases this week when Amazon users had their accounts closed, just for returning stuff. Wouldn't be a problem for me - Ebay does the job just as well.

Attending the Friends of ILP Clarion House AGM, the friends are a support and maintenance group for the building and site. Meeting followed by pie & peas and a guest speaker.

Tripps is correct, you don't need to give a reason just pack it up and ask for a refund. Check their return policy you may be able to ask for a return label. If that is the case and you need to drop it off somewhere for collection I will oblige.

Cycling accessory firms I have bought from online ship all goods with free return labels. I have done it without problem when cycling clothing ordered has not had the right fit.

Can't be bothered, I will find a good home for it and make someone happy.....

I repeat, if anyone wants an office chair it's up for grabs.....
From the look of the weather forecast it is going to be a lousy day. I have done all my outside jobs apart from the mid-morning short walk so I'll be watching the weather through the shed window. Still dry as I write but the forecast is usually spot on and they forecast rain from 06:00 onwards.....
