Another good night sleep, never stirred.

As everyone else, head cold but not bunged up, hardly coughing feeling almost back to my normal. Just waiting for a negative result but that's not today, still double lining.

Sally was negative yesterday, forgot to mention in the last post, she's positive today! day one for her, day six for me and I'm not clear yet but feel just about back to normal. Still have a bit of mucus and I cough voluntarily.
Sally just has a runny nose.

I hope she has an easy passage Ian, give her my love please.
Later, remember when I forecast that Covid deaths would reach 150,000? I heard this morning that the latest total is 170,000.

Just imagine if we had the internet and Facebook in the early 1900s, we'd still have a percentage of the population looking like this today.

Guess which one was vaccinated against smallpox?
I love science.

I'm still wondering about the anti vax movement.

We went for our pensioners booster yesterday at Colne Health Centre. No after affects so far. I caused a bit of a flap when they asked if I had had any anti-viral injections lately one of the examples being being the shingles (herpes zoster,) vaccine, No but I'm currently suffering from a recurrence of shingles itself. Lots of running about checking vaccine limitations with a final answer of Yes it should be OK.
What struck me was that the vaccines were being administered by volunteers many ex-NHS who showed a lot of in-depth knowledge of medications and side affects. A big thankyou to everyone.

Day nine since I first tested positive and I am now clear according to the LFT I have just done.

Not tested today but she still has heavy cold symptoms.
Thanks for asking Kev.

Sounds as though Sally is on the same track as me. It's 14 days since I tested positive and I still have some cold symptoms. Otherwise I am back to normal but just in case I am avoiding contact and not hugging any strange women!

It seems ages since we tested negative, but are still slightly phlegmy.

Just the NORMAL ones I presume? A bit difficult to find in this part of the world.

I never stopped hugging Susan, my daughter. Being deprived of hugs from her would have been a step too far!
I'm quite enjoying the liberating feeling of knowing that my antibodies are working as well as they possibly could. Thank God for those pesky scientists. (Remember how Hartley hated them?

See
THIS BBC report on the Covid deaths in Shanghai. Whilst I note the scepticism about the accuracy of the reports I note that the deceased were not vaccinated. I wonder if this is the eventual end for the anti vaxxers.

Have you also seen the riots in Shanghai due to government officials forcibly removing people from their homes so the places can be used for locked down covid patients?

Yes and I also noted that some were British Ex-pats who live there. What can the attraction be to live under such a Draconian regime/ Could it be money?

Sally is still testing positive but her lines are fading. Most of her symptoms have gone.

I reckon she's in the clear. Sue has mentioned that it would be 'dead' bits of the virus hanging around giving the positive.

That’s what I had for about the last three days, a very faint “positive” line.

I haven't bothered to test, my Susan told me that even when I was batter I could still be showing positive for days.
Did you see the report yesterday that people and firms are being overcharged for lateral flow tests? (

It's all relative to whether or not you socialise or not. We have certain commitments that make it a common courtesy if nothing else to test. It's the Labour Party meeting this Friday round at Bosom Friends Centre. We open up etc and also attend of course. Sally's result will determine whether or not she sends apologies. We have the meetings upstairs which gives more room for social distancing.
We also run the monthly cancer support meetings and had to cancel the last one due to infection. We test before attending any event that involves a few folk. We need to mitigate the risk as much as possible for folk who may be on treatment or are more susceptible to infection.
I am still getting reminders to attend my blood donor session this Friday which I have already cancelled. It's clear on the NHSBT application. I checked and I can still re book but it's pointless although I am a week clear of infection I am still in contact with a positive although probably a minor risk. Only afew questions down the medical screening list and I would have to tick a yes which would invoke the blue nurse. I am not going to Padiham to be still classed as an infection risk and bounced.

I was testing positive for 12 days despite feeling much better, I suspect I was negative but was still 'snotty' and did avoid social contact. A sensible move Ian considering the circles you move in. I certainly wouldn't want the responsibility of actually infecting someone.

If I had your schedule I would still be testing Ian but I don't. I keep isolated and so am not a danger to anyone. From what I have read the LFTs aren't 100% accurate anyway. Better safe than sorry because I am aware that there is still a lot of infection about. Did I hear yesterday that the hospitals are under more pressure now than ever?

According to NHSBT I will be safe to donate blood again. I had a call from them last night, stocks are at a critical level and they need all the donors they can get. They ran my infection dates through their version of HHGTTG probability engine. Also Sally's stats, (she is now clear). End result I can give an arm full so they have booked me a slot. More in the blood thread.
