My Lilac bush is a bit better looking now.... Muthomi came round last night and did his tree surgeon bit in the dark. Much better, it wanted pruning anyway and the wind did a good job. Now all I need is someone to take the branches away.... any suggestions?

I've been gardening today. Lovely and sunny out there, though slightly windy. I went up to the garden nursery first thing, bought some new potting mix to top up depleted pot plants and some Blood and Bone Mix.
That led to industry on my return home. Then I did some outdoor sweeping to tidy up.
Having a rest now by sitting down to do Ancestry.

Staying indoors as much as possible and being thankful that I can get in the barn to see to the ponies without setting foot outside. I haven't let the hens out of their house this morning, don't want them blowing away!

The nearest I got to jam Liz was stewing plums to have with the Jersey cream Kathy gave me. It was a day beyond sell-by but of course perfectly good.

Continuing with the TLC. My arm and shoulder are improving slowly. No coincidence that it's the same shoulder I smashed up when I wrote Richard's new BMW off. These things tend to come back to haunt you.

John Clayton is visiting this morning, I want him to explain his latest research in depth. Quite excited about it. I shall remember to nag him about the site!

Stanley's mention of John Clayton has prompted me to raise a couple of questions about his B & P Archaeology book. It also exposes my ignorance to these computer scanning apps.
John has placed a number of matrix codes (two dimensional bar codes) along with the map reference points. Not knowing anything about these codes the questions are:-
1 Do they carry any more information than can be read in the book?
2 Not having one of these smart phones with internet connection is it possible to scan them using the laptop camera. If so what app would be recommended for windows 10?
The last question is open to anyone who knows about these things.

I don't know the answer P but John and I have spent four hours talking history and making progress. He really is on to something. As promised I pinned him up against the wall and forced him to promise to re-register and get posting! If not I have threatened to send Wendy round to break his windows..... Will alert him to your query.

I have been filing ( ancestry stuff)most of the day and giving my office space a good going over. It was as boring as heck but I stuck to it. The last little pile in a cardboard folder was the hardest to get through because it covered a lot of surnames, so it was a matter of getting folders out repeatedly and going to different sections. I know I should do it as I go along but it interrupts my train of thought.
All up to date now, and feeling oh so smug. All pens are stood like little soldiers in the pen holder and I am ready to start again...but not today...I am exhausted.
Time has flown today!

Boring but essential Maz. Like me you appreciate what I call a straight edge. If you don't do this you eventually start to lose track of where you are going. Good discipline and yes you deserve a little smug break!
I often think that this behaviour is closely related to OCD but who cares? I am exactly the same in my routines and in the shed. It pays off in the end because you get better progress and that means satisfaction. So many people don't know the value of that.....

Off to York today on a steam train. Yippee! It should be the Duchess of Sutherland.

From the choices of class to travel, Mr Smith and I will be at the back with bacon butties rather than the silver service at the front. We love York.

Plaques - pleased to hear that the book/s make some sort of sense - the barcodes merely carry the XY Lat Long Coord information for each site. Useful if you have a relevant app with wifi access and want to scan in the details before visiting a site - useless otherwise
