I work on that principle as well Kev, an occasional treat is allowed!
Moh, I can taste those onion rings. Do you fry them in batter?
I had the last of the greens for dinner and for tea I had half the chicken breast, a small tin of mushy peas and some of the stuffing. I poured some of the cider off the chicken half way through cooking yesterday and after mixing the stuffing up I put it in the oven with the roasting tin. It is superb! Made by the Shropshire Spice Company it is apricot and almond and has 30% carbohydrates but we aren't talking much so it is allowed! Nice change and I am enjoying it. The chicken will do three meals and I shall boil the carcass for stock afterwards.....

Moh, why don't you do a Mary Berry and include a few photos of the more exotic dishes. I'm sure they will look better than Stanley's vegetable stews X2.

The onion rings are frozen and are in batter - they are Aunt Bessie's and are so good it is not worth the effort of making them. The only problem is I can only find them in Tesco.
Last night we had ham joint with mixed roasted veg.
Regarding the photos I am no good at posting and the meal will go cold whilst I take photos.

I bought veggies yesterday and had chicken and veggies for dinner and tea. That chicken has done well. But I slipped up. I put the remains of the carcass in carrot water with onions and simmered for a stock. Forgot it and let it dry out! Ah well......

I grilled 4 Lincolnshire sausages and put them in the slow cooker with chopped tomatoes. Then I put the cauli and carrots I cooked yesterday in with them and steamed Savoy cabbage and Spring greens. At the same time I fried lardons with onions and when both were cooked mixed them together with the usual seasonings. I topped the slow cooker up with some of this and left it to argue. Dinner was the sausage and veggies and when I had taken that bowl full out I put the rest of the cabbage and greens in the cooker. Tea was another bowl of the mixture and there is plenty left for today. An apple for pudding, no cheese and biscuits......

Funny thing that Moh. I was considering the same but in the end settled for Three egg Omelette with fried tomatoes for tea with a chicken leg for afters. I cooked a storm up in the morning and finished up with a veggie dish with all the usual suspects, the only meat in it is two burgers and the lardons in the cabbage. I had a bowl of that for dinner but then decided to leave it to improve until today. Always better reheated the day after!

I cracked the other day and bought two sweet potatoes.... So for dinner I had chipped sweet potato and well fried tomatoes topped up with the veggie stew just for a change. For tea I had straight veggie stew and topped up with one apple and cheese and oatcakes. I was right about the stew, wonderful how it improves after sitting still for 24 hours at room temperature. Probably something to do with bacterial activity and not to be generally recommended but my system seems to be able to cope with it!

I think it is just the contents of the cells being released and slowly mingling and not bacterial activity. If you left the lid on the pan after cooking it should be ok for 24 hours. The cooking will have destroyed most things. Any spores surviving
may germinate on cooling. As soon as you open the lid it could become contaminated with airborne bacteria and fungi.

Thanks for that Sue, that has always been my understanding and it has never led me astray yet. I had breaded cod, sweet potato chips and mushy peas for dinner. For tea I had the remains of the half chicken I bought ready-cooked from Kath last Friday and oatcakes and cheese for pudding plus one apple. There were two helpings of the veggie stew left in the slow cooker so, as is my wont, I transferred it to two bowls , sealed with cling film and put them in the fridge. I do that because it is 24 hours since it was raised to a level of heat that would sterilise it. Once again I find this keeps me out of trouble.....

One sausage, half a tin of baked beans and two eggs for dinner. Last of the veggie stew for tea with one apple and cheese and biscuits for a filler. Weighed myself at dinner time and I am well on the way to 12 1/2 stone..... Good stuff all round!

Last batch of chilli from the freezer, it's been a good one, had it with two small baked potatoes and a bit of cheddar. Jacks coming round for tea tonight so it's going to be a mixture of chicken and vegetable kebabs and lime and coriander rice. We have an excess of milk so I think we will have a rice pudding for afters.

I had one sausage left so I popped it into the slow cooker with a tin of cheap chopped tomatoes. I boiled sprouts and steamed cauliflower and a Savoy Cabbage. Fried onions and lardons for flavour. Mixed the whole lot up and steamed together for ten minutes than into the slow cooker with the sausage and tomato. By dinnertime it was lovely and I had it for tea as well. One apple for pudding and nothing else all day.
