Next question:- Are they any good?

We have a large upright fridge and a similarly designed freezer. Both well made and performing Ok at the moment.
We have also had a tumble dryer which if you pardon the pun was a wash out. It relied on a 'damp' sensor which was supposed to limit any excess drying time, ie; more economical. This never worked properly and finally gave up the ghost. A replacement control unit was more expensive than a new (alternative) dryer. Guess what we did?

I think that the problem they had is what caused them to do some very heavy discounting of their fridges.

Am sat here with a LARGE glass of wine ( do not judge me until you have lived a month in my clothes!)
Beko washing machines (groan).
We were supposed to have a phone call today to confirm correct part had arrived to the mechanic, but as we hadn't heard anything by 4.45pm, we decided to call them to confirm mechanic's visit tomorrow.
Seems part did not arrive...as part NOT AVAILABLE! ( despite promise of "express delivery")
( "can we rebook appointment for Monday, Madam, fingers crossed part which is not available may suddenly materialise?")

We are off to see the manager tomorrow. On Monday it will be a month since machine broke down.
I think Febby's hair may actually turn back to his previous flaming red colour for the day. He is a "silver fox" now, but I am sure there will at least be red highlights tomorrow, with temper to match.
We were discussing it earlier and he offered to get me a stick to aid hand washing...but I said "Buggar the stick -get me a Wench"
His eyes lit up at the thought...

Febby has been fuelling his fire by reading lists of similar problems on the Internet, with refusal to replace under warranty and endless "waiting for motherboard" complaints.
Tomorrow will be interesting...

Update on previous posting, the said fridge freezer now resides in the kitchen courtesy of Bob, a neighbour and a good strong engineer friend. The doors will now be replaced. All set now, kitchen paid for, kitchen fitter booked, fridge freezer arrived. Just got to empty the old kitchen and book the skip. All action commencing the 19 th, after we return from our annual Lakes holiday.. Our list of jobs on the house is slowly being ticked off.

I have an A rated Beko fridge freezer, 6 years old and (probably put the curse of Big Kev on it now) had no problems with it.

My Beko Washing machine was the first front loader I have ever bought, previously owning top loading machines. I've never had a moment's trouble with top loaders.
The Beko has some ridiculously long washing cycles....the longest of which is 3.5 hours (!) to wash a blanket.
It doesn't cope well with spinning towels, ( so I would hesitate to wash a blanket) and I have one plush bath mat it cannot cope with even if I wash it on its own. The machine broke down on the very first occasion I cancelled a cycle. To do that, one has to push the Stop/Start button for 3 seconds. Then it never worked again!

I was washing a doona at the local laundromat because it didn't fit in my front loader. The manager advised me not to put too much detergent in the wash because it holds the water in whatever you're washing and that the doona would come out wet.

My towels weren't spinning out properly either so I reduced the amount of detergent and it worked, just like magic.

no. I've tried that Liz. Doesn't work. I've tried doing plush bath mat with no detergent at all, and machine can't cope with it. I only use one small scoop anyway...and it is so "low sud" that I haven't seen a bubble whilst hand washing these past few weeks. (You wonder if the stuff is working). I have stopped using the plush bath mat altogether, as I can't wring it by hand. it is too much hard work. (Not a very big bathmat either...just plush).

We have been down and spoke to the manager today. He made the same calls we had been making for weeks and got the same replies. Whilst we were there, hubby received a call on his mobile cancelling (yet again) next week's possible visit by the mechanic as the part hasn't magically materialised (funny that). As that visit takes us to the month mark since breakdown of the machine, with no positive resolution, the manager has promised to get back to us by the end of the day, with a solution. He asked us if we were after a new machine. We replied "We don't care! Fix the old one or replace ASAP! I have washing banked up in the halls!"

We once had an 'event' with our washer where it never drained properly. The drain pump was Ok and the drain filter was clear or so I thought. The culprit was on of those tiny round transparent plastic labels that would flip up to cover the outlet hole but then drop down again out of site when the flow stopped. Should never have done away with the possing tub. Now there's a local word.

Maz, is the law governing buyer's rights different in Oz compared with the UK? Here, under the Consumer Rights Act, "you have the right to reject something faulty, and to be entitled to a full refund in most cases, for 30 days. (After that, you lose the short-term right to reject the goods and you'll have fewer rights, such as only being able to ask for a repair or replacement, or a partial refund if this doesn’t work.)" UK Consumer Rights

Plaques, beware plastic labels, it's surprising where they get to. In the 1980s one of the medical journals reported the case of a man who was rushed to hospital with what seemed to be a perforated gut, presumably caused by an ulcer. The surgeons operated immediately and saved him. They found one of those plastic tags used as closures on bread bags - the type comprising a flat rectangle of plastic with a key-shaped cut-out. It had somehow clipped itself to the wall of his intestine and the opposite edge was wearing away the other side of the gut. They told him to take more notice of what was in his sandwiches future!

Sorry to jump in before Maz but; we bought a reverse cycle air conditioner in our last house. It had a 5 year warranty and after what seemed along time it died. I couldn't find the documentation for it but we needed it fixed anyway. The repair man looked at the model number and said 'you're lucky, it's warranty is about to expire'. He fixed it for nothing under warranty. You can't ask better than that.

I'm not sure about money back but fixing things under warranty is usually not a problem.

Getting rid of the resin that has bubbled out of the piece of Keruing I varnished yesterday. I made the mistake of putting it in the warm front room to help the varnish to dry... Keruing is long lasting largely because good slow grown specimens are full of resin, and this piece is some of the good stuff! Some 000 steel wool full of wax will get rid of it....

Basically, we are still in a holding pattern re the washing machine. Today marks the one month anniversary of it breaking down. The question is, have we now passed the "fair and reasonable" time period of repair? I think so.
I hope someone in authority makes a decision today...it's all getting terribly tedious.

We are in the lakes for a week, except tomorrow when we have to drive to Sheffield for my aunts funeral. She died on Boxing Day , aged 93. Almost the last of the generation.

Boxing Day?
( doesn't that seem a long delay between death and burial?)

UPDATE...washer fixed! So guess what I shall be doing for the rest of the day...(and it is raining here for the first time in about 8 weeks).

Big overload of deaths at this time of year but the problem was the number of people living abroad that had to come over including sons and daughter in laws. It is church and a burial too not crematorium. It has more complications grave being opened as my uncle is buried there.
