Clearing out, throwing things away, sending things to charity shops, passing items on to the next generation. In a word cleaning and that word I HATE decluttering.

I'm not against chucking rubbish out, in fact I'm quite obsessive about it but me treasured clutter is a different matter!

Not sure yet, there are several avenues I could go down in the shed. I shall have a view and make my mind up!

Many happy returns Moh, you missed St Valentine's day by four days! I shall be having an easy day after a BIG sleep last night, I must have needed it. I shall have a later walk and be in the shed at some point but there is no rush, I am not on piecework...
My mind goes back to when I was tanking milk to dairies for the morning bottling. We ran like a bus service, we had set times of arrival. I used to have a regular run to Lincoln and Carleton Dairies and was timed to be there at 05:30 after a three hours drive. One morning I woke late, a very rare occurrence and was two hours late. It was a horrible feeling but nothing I could do about it. They were very forgiving, anyone who has to start early like that knows that even the best people oversleep at times. Even so, I can still remember that shock when I looked at the clock! The one thing to remember when it happens is don't rush! You can't make time.....

County council budget day today. Apart from when flooding took over, this has been almost all consuming for several months. Rising social care costs and government cuts are squeezing the county badly; around a third of a billion pounds has to be found in the next few years.

We look set for a lengthy meeting, with the administration digging their heels in and insisting that extremely unpalatable cuts must go ahead. My group believes that some of the cuts can be avoided. With no one having an overall majority, it's anyone's guess what the upshot will be.

Best of luck with that one David!

Today I have mainly been taking Sally to the railway station to get the train to Stratford to retrieve our Ruby for the half term holiday. That's sorted and I will now mainly be visiting Tom the physio for my second appointment, I have taken my painkillers and have been doing the exercise he suggested. We'll see if the mobility angles in my shoulder are any better.

David, Somerset County Council promised that after the flood defence works and the re-direction of traffic they would repair the extensive damage to the local road caused by the extra traffic. A bloke came and sprayed paint on the appropriate areas, a month or so later another man came and sprayed them a different colour, months later another man and a third colour. Eventually they came and did the work, but only after much hectoring by the parish council. They also promised to repaint the big `30' limit signs on the tarmac of the A road in the centre of the village (they'd become almost invisible) and redo more lining. This too was much delayed and they still haven't done all of it, even though it's major safety issue, right outside the school, pub and post office.

David and Tiz, all symptoms of the cuts imposed by Tory austerity policies gradually working their way through the system. My view is that we ain't seen nothing yet!
