WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
But of course, Vieux Haricot. We were desperate for Veg after our week's tropical holiday. Overdosed on them for a whole week when we got home!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
That's what I am doing Maz. I cooked steak, kidney and onions in beef and ale sauce and am eating that with the veggies. Had it X two for dinner and tea. I had to eat a bowl of muesli as I have far too much milk and cream!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I was ready for my tea after my walk today so I made a sausage and bean stir up. I sweated an onion up in the frying pan then added the chopped up sausages after grilling them. Chopped tomatoes, baked beans, butter beans, pork and veggie stock cubes and a nice little red home grown chilli from the plant on the window bottom. I chucked in some frozen garden peas and then added some chopped mixed sweet peppers just before serving. Made enough for two servings so the other half is in a casserole pot for tomorrow. Had it with a plain teacake. Just right after 4.5 miles round the hill.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
My kind of food Ian!
I fried bacon and cabbage and added some frozen string beans to bulk it up and it's going down well with the beef and veggies X two for dinner and tea. Another small bowl of muesli for afters to attack the milk and cream surplus.

The beef and veggies X two for dinner and tea. Not very hungry at teatime so only half a bowl and no afters, just an apple.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I extended the beef with frozen string beans and had it for dinner and tea. Only a small bowl at teatime followed by a bowl of muesli, I am winning the battle of the milk surplus after not being able to brew on the canal trip. Waste not want not!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I finished the veggie and beef for dinner and tea. I shopped for the next batch of veggies and already have the meat I roasted last Sunday and the gravy in the fridge. As soon as the new hob is in I shall have a test flight cooking the veggies!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I was hampered yesterday by lack of a hob. I decided on breaded cod and sweet potato chips for dinner (done together in the deep fryer) and the same plus mushy peas for tea as despite the fact I had cooked veggies and built up new mutton stew, it was edible but not fully cooked and anyway I had a cod fillet left from dinner! I have to report that the hob is fine, the thermostats work and cooking the veggies was so much easier with a full complement of serviceable elements to go at! Quite amazing what you can get used to over the years as equipment deteriorates, it becomes the norm.....

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
We're back to normal. Small proportion of mutton, defatted, and a very high proportion of veggies in the slow cooker and so a lovely tasty veggie stew for dinner and tea. Kathy slipped a cream trifle in my bag...... Cheese and biscuits for afters with an apple.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Apart from one bowl full in the fridge I finished off the mutton and veggie stew for dinner and tea and had cheese and biscuits for afters. I shall roast half a leg of mutton today for the next stew, tastes better when it's done on free leccy!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I had the last bowl of mutton and veggies for dinner and for tea I had a Rib steak with three fried eggs, peas and tomatoes. I was full! I needed no topping up!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
A piece of rump steak, portabella mushroom, 3 cheese aubergine and a fried egg went down well.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Kev, amazing how filling a good steak is......
Yesterday I fried 6 sun-dried tomato and Basil sausages. I had three with mushy peas for dinner and the other three with fried tomato and an egg for tea. I went veggie shopping yesterday and in the afternoon I built another mutton and veggie stew with the roast mutton I cooked at weekend as a base. I popped it and its de-fatted gravy in the slow cooker and boiled/steamed carrots, cauliflower, cabbage and a few small salad potatoes. I cooked the cabbage in the carrot water and when that was done I put it in the stew to bring the levels up. I've found by experiment that a few small potatoes don't set back to good effects from LCHF. I forgot two small onions that have reached their sell by date so I shall fry them this morning and add them to the reserve cauli and cabbage that wouldn't fit in the cooker.

The new stew came into its own and I had it for dinner and tea. By teatime I shall have all the cabbage and cauliflower in the slow cooker. Just right for this cooler weather!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Mutton and veggies for dinner and tea. Cheddar on oatcakes after tea and an apple for pudding. I extended the stew with 1/2kg of frozen peas, cost 50p. I reckon that's a good meal for 50p and they say good food is expensive.....

Mutton stew for dinner and tea and cheese and oat cakes afterwards. I jumped on the scale last night and must be doing something right, I have lost over two pounds in the last month.

The last of the mutton for dinner and tea. On Sunday (free leccy) I shall build a new beef stew with 2lbs of shin beef and onions I got yesterday. I have the veggies sat waiting!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Yesterday was a scotch egg, mushy peas and beetroot for dinner and the same for tea but with a small pork pie. Cream trifle for pudding, Kathy is spoiling me! I'm ready for cooking with free leccy at 9AM.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Using up a few bits from the fridge to accompany today's sirloin steaks. Had a tub of cream cheese with herbs that mixed in nicely with the half a savoy cabbage that was in the veg tray, a salad tomato that was just starting to go soft was bunged in the oven with a couple of portabella mushrooms. Washed down with ginger beer and freshly squeezed lime, lovely.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
They always go down well.... I had Scotch Egg with carrots, cabbage and some of the gravy from the 2lbs of shin beef that was slow cooking with onions for dinner and a small pork pie with veggies and gravy for tea. Cheese and oatcakes after. The shin beef, onions, baby spuds and parsnip is fully cooked and I have a pan full of cabbage and carrots to top it up. No cooking for a few days!

Shin beef stew and veggies for dinner and tea with cheese and oatcakes and an apple for afters. I put the rest of the veggie overflow in the slow cooker this morning and there are four good helpings in there. They say that good food is dear..... Not if you use your head!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Three Cheese Pasta and Sauce tonight.
A crowd pleaser, and easy enough when having visitors...though my son and his girlfriend have eaten out at different establishments for breakfast/lunch/dinner for the last 11 days...and they might turn their noses up at my Pasta and Sauce! ( the sauce is homemade and chock full of veg). Just the ticket after all the rubbish they must have eaten on holiday.
I've made a Lemon Steamed Pudding for afters, with Cream or Icecream.
