It's always a pleasure to pop in and see you Stanley and Col is very pleased to add some new tools to his workshop.

They will make his job easier..... I will never thread large iron pipe again, if I do, I can always borrow the tackle off Col! Had the last of the rhubarb and custard last night, three helpings and my transit time has benefited!
Today I shall do better than yesterday and get in the shed for proper engine building. Yesterday turned into a 'tidy the steel stock' exercise. Useful but not getting the engines forward!

Every now and then I have to do a re-calibrate on where I want to be and what I want to do. Today is such a day, kick old time-wasting habits and get back to do those required and wanted things.

Very true Jules.... We can get too comfortable in old ways which have become habits. Not long ago I read a book on workshop techniques and discovered I had been sharpening drills the wrong way all my life!
Piston rods and crossheads are on the agenda today.....

The cruise was fantastic, the only downer was the sea sickness AFTER I GOT HOME. It lasted all day.i am hoping it has disappeared after a nights sleep in my own bed. The scenery was stunningly beautiful and the weather perfect

I always suffer motion sickness for about 48 hours after we get off a house-boat following a week long holiday on the river, Sue. I'm not actually sick, but the horizon goes up and down...and the first night in bed feels like I am rocking from side to side. When walking, you have the sense that the floor is coming up in front of you. It gets worse before it gets better...but passes away on the second day. Apparently the "tubes" in my ears are only child size, so hence the problems when I fly or sail. ( I don't experience nausea, thank goodness)

That is it exactly Marilyn. I was ok today until I started putting some plants in. I think the bending down has set me off again. Not nice.

I've never been sick at sea but I get a similar thing if I don't drink enough water.... My balance plays tricks with me and yes, bending down can trigger it. Glad you enjoyed the cruise.....
Shed of course for a spell.... Otherwise looking after myself and Jack!

We will have all three of our grandchildren today as well. Sally brought Ruby up from Stratford yesterday for half term. Isla and Fin will be arriving later today and all will be sleeping over. We will be planning and making ready for the climbing of Penyghent tomorrow. I shall report how that adventure goes in the walking thread.

It looks as if tomorrow's weather will be kind to you Ian.
Garden and more garden for me.

That's the plan Wendy, jollying them on will be a lot easier in the sunshine. The girls will vie off one another Fin always want's to be Ruby's "best friend". It's good that they all get along. I'm going to encourage races to each stile and I reckon Fin will love the rock climb up the brow to the summit. All you desire at the Penyghent Cafe on return will be another incentive for the team. Isla and Fin can relax on Monday when they get on an aeroplane for the first time to go to Italy! It's a hard life being a kid.

I watch my grandchildren flitting around the world as though it was trip to Blackpool. Things have changed!
Quietly away in the shed fitting my engines up. Slow and careful and I think I'm getting the hang of making engines.....

Well the team is up and raring to go. It's like a military operation here as Isla and Fin have stayed overnight and are going to Italy tomorrow so we will drop them off after our walk. We will have to take all their overnight stuff up to Horton with us along with all the stuff for Penyghent. We are not in a rush, pack ups to be made and rucksacks packed yet. I'll be happy if we can get up to Horton for 9.30 - 10. Any 3 Peak walkers will all be long gone by then and should be on the slog over to Ribblehead, some will be tackling Whernside by then. 3 - 4 hours I reckon for our circuit with the kids if we have a look at Hull Pot on the way back. Never put the pictures up for this walk so I'll do it on this one.

He did it.... nice account of the walk on the other topic.
Avoiding the mistake I nearly made in the shed yesterday.... So easy to slip up if you stop questioning what you are doing!

The dress is finished apart from the hem, next task us the coat but before that I have a school PE bag to make for Little Briony who starts school in September. Where has the time gone.
Today we are off to Anglesey. Bob has made a new gate for the cottage there that we rent out. The joiner we asked to do it let us down so we had to do it ourselves. The tenant will be very pleased as she has been asking for it to be repaired for weeks.
The weather forecast is good for Anglesey, it should be a nice day out
