I doubt if we got above 8C yesterday Cathy without the wind chill factor. The year has definitely changed over to winter pattern. Overcast and cold this morning, CH is on. I noticed that the wind swung into the east after dinner yesterday, slightly earlier than forecast. The High Pressure up near Iceland must be moving faster than the forecasters expected. Glass has risen slightly to just over 29.5". Not significant as yet but this is what will bring the frost eventually. Forecast is for a slightly warmer overcast day with a chance of a shower at any time but with the stronger wind, it will feel like 7C for most of the day.

Dry, calm and overcast, 10C. A quiet morning. Glass is steady at just above 29.5". Forecast says there is a brisk NE wind but I can't feel it. 20% chance of a shower for most of the day so it looks like a re-run of yesterday. Good weather for the time of year.
08:15. We've had our walk. Nice mild morning and so nice to see the Town Square buzzing with activity as the traders set up for the market. The cafe and butty shops must do well.

I can feel the North Easterly Stanley...not quite as cold this morning though.

That's what I thought Wendy and it's the same this morning, overcast, calm, very light mizzle in the air but not cold. I'd guess somewhere near 10C. Glass has fallen to 29.3" which signals a greater chance of rain but I doubt if it will be more than overcast and the chance of a shower. Forecast agrees with this but gives higher chance of a shower. I doubt it actually because the wind is steady from the NE and that's usually a dry quarter for us here in Barlick.

It said it was10degrees in Rochdale, but it was bitterly cold due to the wind, and we still have it this morning. I am up early as we are off to Melton Mowbray to pick up some garden railway track bought on EBay, then off to Coventry for the day to see the grandchildren. We haven't seen them for two months. I should think Briony (23months) is quite chatty now.

Similar morning to yesterday. Glass is down at 29" as a low tracks across from Europe. Very unusual because there is a big low out in the Atlantic knocking on the door but it appears to be blocked by the continental systems. The Atlantic will win in the end of course but until then we can enjoy relatively quiet weather. Forecast is for a higher chance of rain today but as I said yesterday, the NE wind is usually a dry one.

Cold rain this morning and there seems to be a very slight westerly breeze. Glass is steady at just over 29" and the forecast shows no rain. Wind is to be light and shifting round all over the place. It looks as though the Atlantic low is gradually gaining control and we can expect it to be in charge by later in the week. Only good thing about it is that it is warmer air and will keep the frost off. The weather is in transition at the moment and could do just about anything!

Overcast, breezy and dry at the moment. Glass is up slightly at 29.1" and it looks as though the Atlantic low is on its way in. I'd say rain later... The forecast agrees and says heavy rain from 13:00 into the night.
08:20. We've had our walk. Just before I went out I snapped this sky (and it had faded slightly by the time I got out there). Red sky in the morning, shepherd's warning....

It was a good warning Maz. The rain came in at noon... Overcast, cool and damp outside at the moment. Glass is hovering round 29". The west wind will persist but according to the forecast it will be a dry day. Neither one thing or tother as far as I can see.

Calm, dry, cool outside. Glass has risen to 29.2", still just about fighting the big Atlantic low off! Rain expected late this afternoon and it will be wet all night and all day Saturday....

Gorgeous day here in Adelaide.

NSW Bushfire Emergency 94 fires across NSW, 29 out of control. It could take 1500 crews a few weeks to put out all the fires.
Just awful to see the images on our screens, to be part of it must be horrendous. :)

Reminiscent of Black Saturday in Victoria. The heat, the smell of smoke; it was horrendous. I hope we never go through that again.

I remember Ash Wednesday in our Adelaide Hills. We had a distant hills view and could see the flames, we had the smoke and ash on our driveway etc. One of the employees where I worked was a volunteer firee and we could hear the messages on his 2 way radio which he had to leave on just incase he was called for. Just awful.

You need some Barlick weather, calm and lots of rain over the next couple of days.

Smells do that don't they Maz....
Wet outside this morning but not actually raining. Glass is down at 28.9" and forecast is for a wet day. Only upside is that the prevailing wind from the south is relatively warm so the CH has been off for a few days now.

Breezy, dry , broken cloud and cooler this morning. Glass down again at 28.7", the Atlantic low is now in charge. Forecast is for a brisk south wind and 60% chance of showers mid-day.

Reasonably calm and dry at the moment. Sky has clouded over, it was clear as a bell earlier in the night with a brilliant full moon to the South. Glass is hovering on 28.9" but it looks as though the Atlantic Low is going to hit us today. Forecast is for rain towards mid-day and two wet days to come.

Flags are wet but it's not raining at the moment. Very mild for the time of year. Glass has fallen almost to 28.5", More chance of rain than fine today I think but that west wind is quite mild.

Marilyn wrote 'Nasty winds here today...' is that it?

Last night Adelaide experienced The Big Bang all over again, omg. At least 3 hours of the loudest and closest thunder I have ever heard, I swear it was right above my head. 10's of thousands of lightning strikes as well. A rock concert would have been like a lullaby compared to the noise we had last night. More wild winds experienced today and we reached 22C.
